We're Hanging by a Thread

Sorry to be a bearer of bad news, but it's only a matter of time until it all comes crashing down.  There's not much we can do about it as individuals.  We can get out of debt as much as possible and be careful with our money.

But, the most important thing we can do is make sure we are right with the Lord.  We are likely to have a rough road ahead.  It sure will be made easier if we know we have a God beside us who has promised to meet all our needs and never leave us nor forsake us.

Read from the Economic Collapse:

All Of This Whining About The Fiscal Cliff Is Pathetic

The fiscal cliff is coming!  Run for the hills!  There have been endless stories in the mainstream media about the "fiscal cliff" that our country is facing if the Democrats and the Republicans can't come to some sort of an agreement.  If there is no agreement, taxes will go up and government spending will be reduced by a very small amount.  And yes, that would likely push the U.S. economy into another recession, although there are many that would argue that we are already in a recession right now.  In any event, there is a tremendous amount of distress out there about the fact that something might interrupt the debt-fueled prosperity that we have all been enjoying.  You can almost hear them now: "No! Please don't cut government spending! Please don't raise taxes! Please keep stealing more than 100 million dollars from our children and our grandchildren every single hour of every single day so that we can continue this economic illusion that feels so very good."  The American people want the government to give everything to everybody, but they definitely do not want to pay for it.  They want a big government that showers them with government checks and government benefits, but they don't want to cough up the ridiculous amount of money that it would take to fund such a government.  So we just keep ripping off our kids and our grandkids.  What we are doing to future generations is not just immoral, it is criminal.  If they get the chance, someday they will look back and curse us for destroying their futures and destroying their country.  So why do we continue to do this to them?  Because we are greedy and selfish and we are absolutely desperate to maintain the massively overinflated standard of living that we have been enjoying.  We have lived way above our means for so long that we don't even know what "normal" is supposed to be anymore.
But nobody can spend far more money than they bring in forever.  At some point an adjustment comes, and our adjustment is going to be exceedingly painful.
Right now, the overwhelming consensus in the United States seems to be that we should put off any economic pain for as long as possible.  The American people don't want significant cuts to government spending and they don't want taxes to be raised to pay for the spending that we are already doing.
But if the Republicans and the Democrats don't agree to a deal soon, we are going to see taxes raised substantially and government spending cut by a little bit.  A recent CBS News article did a good job of describing exactly what this "fiscal cliff" that we are facing actually is...
There are two parts to the so-called fiscal cliff. The first is the scheduled expiration of the tax cuts enacted in 2001 and 2003 under President George W. Bush, the payroll tax holiday enacted under President Obama, and a host of other tax breaks. The second is $1.2 trillion in automatic spending cuts to defense and domestic programs that are looming due to a 2011 deal that resulted from House Republicans' reluctance to raise the debt limit.
Now, it's true that if lawmakers fail to work out any sort of deal, there will be severe long-term consequences for the economy: According to the Tax Policy Center, going off the "cliff" would affect 88 percent of U.S. taxpayers, with their taxes rising by an average of $3,500 a year. Many economists, as well as the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, say the combination of spending cuts and tax hikes that are set to take effect would tip the economy into a new recession.
Please keep in mind that the "$1.2 trillion in automatic spending cuts" is not for a single year.  When you break it down, the cuts to spending would be somewhere around 100 billion dollars a year.  And a lot of those "cuts" are actually spending increases that would be cancelled.  So those spending cuts would not really put much of a dent in our yearly budget deficits at all.
The tax increases would be more significant.  Middle class families would be paying thousands of dollars more per year in taxes.  These tax increases would raise some more revenue for the federal government, but they would also do significant damage to the economy in the short-term.
Do you know what they call a combination of government spending cuts and tax increases over in Europe?
They call it "austerity".
Nations like Greece and Spain have tried this.  They cut spending and raised taxes in an attempt to reduce government budget deficits.  What happens is that the spending cuts and the tax increases cause a significant economic slowdown and this causes tax revenues to come in much lower than projected.  So then more spending cuts and tax hikes are necessary in order to try to get closer to balancing the budget.  But then tax revenues fall even more.
In the end, both Greece and Spain still have large budget deficits and yet the economies of both nations are suffering through depression-like conditions.  The unemployment rate in both nations is now over 25 percent.  Just check out this chart right here to see how nightmarish austerity has been for the economies of both Greece and Spain.
So that is why everybody is freaking out about the fiscal cliff.  They don't want to go down the same road of austerity.  They want to keep living in an economic fantasy land where we can borrow our way to "prosperity".
But it is all a lie.  The lines at the Apple stores, the crazed consumers on Black Friday, the restaurants teeming full with people and the government that thinks that it can take care of everyone from the cradle to the grave and yet keep taxes low.  It is all a giant lie.
And no, please do not think that I am in favor of raising taxes.  I most definitely am not.  I believe that the government brings in more than enough money already.
Personally, I believe that we could have a system that completely eliminates income taxes and that funds the government through tariffs and various other forms of taxation.  It was good enough for the Founding Fathers and it should be good enough for us.  But that is a subject for another article.
Our current system has allowed us to live way beyond our means for an extended period of time, but it is only a matter of time until it all comes crashing down.
In fact, the game is already over.  We have already destroyed the future.  At this point it is only a matter of how long we can keep kicking the can down the road and putting off the pain.
Sadly, what we have done on a national level is simply a reflection of our "buy now, pay later" society.  We have become a nation that is constantly willing to sacrifice the future in order to make the present more pleasant.
Just check out this video.  We have become addicted to a prosperity that we cannot possibly pay for.  But as long as someone will keep lending us the money we will continue to enjoy it.
As I have mentioned previously, the government has spent about 11 dollars for every 7 dollars of revenue that it has actually brought in while Barack Obama has been president.
We print, borrow and spend without giving any thought to what we are doing to the future of this country.  We areshredding confidence in our currency and we are wrecking the greatest economic machine that the world has ever seen.
And all of our politicians and all of our "leaders" prance about as if they are the smartest generation of Americans ever, and they think that they are an "example" for the rest of the world, but if our Founding Fathers were around today they would be absolutely horrified about what they have done to the country that they built.
If you think that the economy is bad now, you just wait.
We are still in the "economic fantasy land" phase where we are enjoying a massively inflated standard of living constructed on a mountain of borrowed fiat currency.  Our economy is being held up by trillions of borrowed dollars, and all of that money makes the U.S. economy appear to be far more prosperous than it actually should be.
When we have to start living closer to what our real standard of living should be things are going to get really bad.
Most Americans simply don't understand that if the federal government went to a balanced budget tomorrow it would instantly plunge the U.S. economy into a depression.
Just look at Greece and Spain.  The same thing is going to happen to us one way or another.
So enjoy this false prosperity while you still can.  This is about as good as things are going to get, and from here on out it is downhill for America.

Sharia in Egypt

Obama got what he wanted -- Sharia law in Egypt.  Every female in Egypt will suffer thanks to the American president who is so loved by women.  Ironic, isn't it?  Obama hurts women, and American women throw their support around him.

Read from Weasel Zippers:

Egypt’s Islamist-Dominated Assembly Rams Though New Sharia-Based Constitution With Zero Support From Christians, Liberals…

Carbon copy of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid’s handling of Obamacare.
CAIRO (AP) — More than 100,000 protesters took the streets in Egypt vowing to stop a draft constitution that Islamist allies of President Mohammed Morsi approved early Friday in a rushed, all-night session without the participation of liberals and Christians. [...]
As in past constitutions, the new draft said the “principles of Islamic law” will be the basis of law.
Previously, the term “principles” allowed wide leeway in interpreting Shariah. But in the draft, a separate new article is added that seeks to define “principles” by pointing to particular theological doctrines and their rules. That could give Islamists the tool for insisting on stricter implementation of rulings of Shariah.
Another new article states that Egypt’s most respected Islamic institution, Al-Azhar, must be consulted on any matters related to Shariah, a measure critics fear will lead to oversight of legislation by clerics.
The draft also includes bans on “insulting or defaming all prophets and messengers” or even “insulting humans” – broad language that analysts warned could be used to crack down on many forms of speech.

How Palestinians Are Treated

Ouch!  A Palestinian refugee gets truthful about how his people are treated, and not by the Israelis, but by the Arabs.  This is not something you'll hear from the corrupt media.

Read from Israel Matzav:

'Palestinian refugee' rips Arab treatment of 'Palestinians'

A 'Palestinian refugee' has a lot to say about the Arab world's treatment of 'Palestinians' (Hat Tip: Raquel R).
I posted this on r/worldpolitics, and somebody told me I should do an AMA, not sure if you'd be interested. I'm sure most of this information is new to you considering the considerable lack of media reporting on the issue. FYI, I'm a Palestinian refugee from Lebanon. Here's the proof.
Let me start with a couple of countries:
Lebanon
Around half of the 400,000 refugees live in camps, deprived of many rights. Refugees don't have any property rights, no access to the Lebanese healthcare system and there are certain restrictions on jobs we are allowed to do. We are issued handwritten [travel documents](www.passport-collector.com/2011/08/10/lebanon-refugee-passport-for-palestine/) of appalling quality (large size, cheap paper). The travel documents don't even have a full date of birth, just the birth year. You probably know about the Sabra and Chatila massacre (from the movie Waltz with Bashir, perhaps my favorite animated movie) were 3000 Palestinian civilians were killed in cold blood. These are at the top of my head, I'm sure there's more. This is what a British MP Gerald Kaufman said in 2011 when he visited the camps:
When I went to Gaza in 2010 I thought I had seen the worst that could be seen of the appalling predicament of Palestinians living in conditions which no human being should be expected to endure. But what I saw in the camps in Lebanon is far worse and far more hopeless. The conditions are unspeakable, but for over 400,000 of our fellow human beings this is their life: today, tomorrow and for a future that cannot even be foreseen. At least in Gaza, frightful though the situation is, the people are free within the confines of their blockaded prison. In the camps of Lebanon they are not free.
UPDATE1: Since many here are blaming the PLO and its involvement in the civil war. That's definitely true to a large extent, however you're missing a few points. Most Palestinians refugees were placed in camps in south Lebanon when they arrived. These camps were gradually militarized and became the grounds for operations against Israel and because the PLO had so much power back then, they started making trouble and trying to control part of the country. So had the Lebanon absorbed it's Palestinian population properly, this wouldn't have happened. Look at the Palestinians of Syria, they didn't make any trouble and didn't start any wars, why? Because they were treated like equal citizens. Also, FYI, Lebanon naturalized more than 100,000 Palestinian Christians and Shiites. Second, who do you think was funding the militarization of the PLO? THE ARAB GOVERNMENTS, whether it's Saudi Arabia or Iraq or some other Arab country.
What do I want from Lebanon as a Palestinian refugee? Some of you say that naturalizing 450,000 Palestinians would be a strain on the country. You think that much Palestinian refugees aren't already a strain? Everyone knows if Lebanon naturalizes Palestinians the whole debt Lebanon has would disappear. I'm not exactly fond of naturalization myself though. However, so many laws can be quickly enacted that will significantly improve the life of a refugee, like property law or proper ID and passports formats that aren't from the 1950's. Also, you say that refugees put a strain on Lebanon. Mind you that a large number of Palestinians work abroad and they all send money to their families in Lebanon so they contribute a lot to the Lebanese economy. H***, I've been told the Lebanese lira dropped significantly when the PLO left the country in 1982. One more thing, all Lebanese factions and leaders involved in the civil war are now reigning free in the country many of them ministers or MPs, the same people that committed massacres towards their fellow Lebanese. Nobody was punished for the civil war, except for the Palestinians. Why? Because they're not Lebanese, so it's perfectly fine to discriminate against them.
Read the whole thing

UPDATE FRIDAY 12:36 AM

I just want to make sure that none of you missed this part:
Moral of the story: Israel naturalized over 1.5 million Palestinians. They enjoy full citizen rights and many of them would remain in Israel even if a Palestinian state is established. Palestinians in the Arab world on the other hand suffer from discernible and vile discrimination. If a non-Palestinian Arab speaks of the maltreatment of Palestinians by Israelis, tell them to [...]  demand rights for Palestinians in their countries before they complain about Israel. People living glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Finally, Bibi Gets Bold

Sometimes, I get angry at Bibi Netanyahu when he caves to his enemies, but it's moments like this when I cheer his boldness.

From Weasel Zippers:

Israel Responds To UN Vote Recognizing “Palestine” By Approving Construction Of 3,000 New Homes In West Bank And Jerusalem – Update: Obama Admin Slams Israel…

Love it.
(Bloomberg News) — Israel approved the construction of 3,000 new homes in Jerusalem and the West Bank, less than 24 hours after the United Nations General Assembly voted to recognize Palestine as a non-member state.
Israel also intends to move forward on procedures necessary to plan further construction in a West Bank area between the Jewish settlement of Maaleh Adumim and Jerusalem, two government officials said, speaking anonymously due to the sensitivity of the matter. The Palestinian Authority, the UN and the U.S. consider all Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal.
The 193-member General Assembly yesterday voted 138-9, with 41 abstentions, for a resolution granting Palestinians a form of statehood on a par in the world body with the Vatican. The most significant ramification is that the new state may be able to join organizations such as the International Criminal Court.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said today by text message that the nine countries that voted against recognition, including the U.S., took the “side of truth and the side of peace.” Netanyahu yesterday called the resolution “so one-sided, it doesn’t advance peace, it pushes it backward.”
“Continued settlement activity in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, is contrary to international law” and “must cease,” UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in a statement yesterday, according to the UN’s website.
Update: As usual, the Obama regime is one of the first to condemn.

Most Dangerous Countries

What a shocker!  Eighty percent of the most dangerous countries on the planet are Islamic.  How can that be?  It couldn't possibly be because the people are following the teachings of the Koran.  Or can it?

Read from Front Page:

8 Out of 10 Most Dangerous Countries in the World are Muslim

When your competition is North Korea, then you really have to step up your game, but fortunately the Muslim world keeps offering examples why tourism to a Muslim country is as smart as diving head-first into an alligator pit while covered head to toe in bacon grease.
Travel and Leisure Magazine has named the 10 most dangerous vacation spots in the world. The types of places you go to wake up with your kidneys in a cooler, your head on a spike and the rest of you being used as props in a video by the friendly sword-waving natives. (via Religion of Peace)
Topping the list is Pakistan which has sand, sun and suicide bombers. Next up is Sudan, whose tourist attractions include genocide and the world’s largest ball of severed limbs.
In fourth place is Lebanon which has great food, great sightseeing and even greater car bombings. In fifth place is North Korea, which has recently completed construction of a hotel made entirely of human screams. It isn’t a Muslim country for the technical reason that it is already ruled by a modern day version of Mohammed with better hygiene and grooming habits.
In sixth place is Syria, which is a lot like every other Muslim country, except this year its turn for holding a bloody civil war has come up. Seventh is Yemen, which recently took home a trophy for the country most likely to be run by Al Qaeda by the end of next year. Eight is Uzbekistan and the less you know about it, the happier you will be.
Ninth is Iran; run by an Islamic Revolution whose founder, literally, outlawed fun.
Tenth is Algeria. If you’re tired of life, visit Algeria.
Why are Muslim countries so much more dangerous than non-Muslim countries? I blame Islamophobia.

BTW, number three is Georgia.

America's Youth Is Reaping What They've Sown

Sad to say, but it's true.  Young people flocked to vote for Obama in 2008, and what did they have to show for all their enthusiastic support?  Oh, half of college graduates couldn't find jobs.  It would only make sense that they would learn from their mistakes.  But, they're young and gullible, so they cast their vote the same way in 2012.

What's that saying which says something to the effect that if you see something fail, why would you think it will turn out differently the next time it's tried?

Oops! Sorry Kids… Obama Forgot to Tell College Students He Cut Pell Grants Before Election

During the election this year the Obama Campaign released this online ad targeting young voters.
In the ad Obama told American youth that he kept his promise to make college more affordable.
He forgot to tell them he cut Pell Grants.
The information was released this week.
The Examiner reported:
Sorry, college students. President Obama has cut your access to Pell Grants by 33%; he just forgot to mention it before Election Day.
During the recent campaign, President Obama claimed credit for increasing funding to the Pell Grant program, which provides college funds, free from repayment, to millions of students. However, an email sent out Tuesday to some Dallas college students is revealing a detail the President forgot to mention: the time a student can receive a Pell Grant has been cut, by as much as three years. With Pell Grants for the fall semester now dispersed, colleges are informing students of their options, bringing the cuts to light.
The email, sent out by the Dallas County Community College District, informed students of the changes to the Pell Grant program. It revealed that the number of semesters a student could receive a Pell Grant had been cut from 18 semesters down to 12. It is a detail likely unknown to most students; in fact, the cut in grants has gone largely unreported by the media.
Sorry kids.

Palestinians Win Non-Member Status

As students of the Bible, we knew this day was coming, though we hated to see it come to pass.  The Palestinians have easily won the non-member observer state status they were seeking from the UN.  But, believe it or not, this isn't all bad news.

What I couldn't quite understand is why Obama, a great hater of Israel, would actually vote against the new status for the Palestinians, but someone made a good point in the comments section of the article below, suggesting that perhaps Obama voted as he did because he knew that there would be huge support for the Palestinian cause and by voting no, he comes out looking good to his fellow Americans.  Believe me, he is not done punishing Israel.

Of course, we hate to think of the upcoming war crimes which Israel will be accused of and the ramifications of that for the Jewish nation.  The world has gone insane.  Imagine the Palestinians, a group of blood-thirsty savages who launch rockets at Israel on nearly a daily basis, accusing Israel of war crimes.  It's beyond ludicrous, and just goes to show how off the cliff this world has become.

However.....what this ultimately means is that we are getting closer and closer to the Rapture of the Church when Jesus comes to rescue His believers from the tribulation to come.  The stage is being set as anti-Semitism is becoming rampant and Israel is growing more and more isolated.

Read more about what happened at the UN, via Prophecy Update:

Un Recognizes "Palestine" - Now What?

First we take a look at the vote:

As expected, the United Nations passed a resolution on Thursday evening recognizing Palestine as a non-member observer state.
138 countries voted in favor of the resolution, nine countries voted against it, and 41 countries abstained.
Shortly before the vote, Palestinian Authority (PA) Head Mahmoud Abbas addressed the United Nations Thursday, in his bid to gain recognition for the PA as a non-member observer state. This status has only been accorded to the Vatican until now.
As usual, Abbas did not condemn the rocket fire by Gaza terrorists on southern Israel.

"Palestine comes today to the General Assembly because it believes in peace and because its people, as proven in past days, are in desperate need of it,” he said, insisting that recognizing “Palestine” as a non-member observer state is “the last chance to save the two-state solution."
"We have heard and you too have heard specifically over the past months the incessant flood of Israeli threats in response to our peaceful, political and diplomatic endeavor for Palestine to acquire non-member observer state in the United Nations,” said Abbas. “And, you have surely witnessed how some of these threats have been carried out in a barbaric and horrific manner just days ago in the Gaza Strip.

That doesn't sound too 'peaceful' to me. Especially coming from someone who ostensibly calls for peace.

We've already seen how "Palestine" will now call on the ICC to place various Israeli officials in front of the court - an action that would create a vast array of (inappropriate) problems and difficulties for Israel. Additionally, the 'Palestinian'  hope from this new ICC threat will be that any action taken by Israel in self-defense, such as the recent Gaza conflict - would be reason for a kangaroo court to ensue and place Israel's leaders in a precarious position.

Even worse, and this too is entirely predictable - the indefensible 'pre-1967' borders will be called for, and indeed that is the case as well:

"We will accept no less than the independence of the state of Palestine, with east Jerusalem as its capital, on all the Palestinian territory occupied in 1967, to live in peace and security alongside the state of Israel, and a solution for the refugee issue on the basis of resolution 194, as per the operative part of the Arab Peace Initiative,” he stressed.

But diplomats and observers believe it will mark a dramatic turning point in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict-cum-peace process of the past 20 years.

Rather, the PA will choose the more palatable option domestically and escalate the international legal challenges to Israel’s policies — and, rhetorically at least, to its very nature and existence — by joining the International Criminal Court and appealing for ICC investigations of Israeli officials and officers.

...former PA foreign minister and current top negotiator Nabil Shaath, who told a Hamas rally in Gaza a week ago, “When you shout that you are marching toward Jerusalem, well this is exactly what your victory is doing. It is defending Jerusalem and Palestine in its entirety by all means of resistance — by armed resistance, by political resistance, by going to the UN, by solidarity — by all forms of confrontation with the enemy occupying our land.”
Indeed, the question of whether the PA needs to actively apply to the ICC may be academic, as a statement in September by ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda suggested that the court may gain jurisdiction over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict automatically through the General Assembly’s recognition of Palestine as a state.
"What we have also done is to leave the door open, and to say that if Palestine is able to pass over that hurdle [of statehood] — of course, under the [UN] General Assembly — then we will revisit what the ICC can do,” Bensouda told a Council on Foreign Relations event in Washington.

This development is not only predictable, but highly consistent with biblical prophecy - as we watch Israel's land divided and we see the world aligning against Israel. The stage continues to be set for the inevitable conclusions. Don't forget, God is placing Israel in such a position that they will only be able to call on Him for their assistance as 'the nations' turn their backs on Israel.

All according to plan.

Abbas said, "Palestine comes today to the General Assembly because it believes in peace."  Abbas believes in peace about as much as I believe in Obama being a great president.

Here's Bibi Netanyahu's response, via Israel Matzav:

Netanyahu: No one will force us to compromise on our security

Obama's Trying to Pull a Fast One

If this doesn't sound like a perfect Obama deal, then I don't know what does.  He gets what he wants, and the nation has to trust him to keep his end of the bargain.  No way can he be trusted to cut spending if he gets his tax increases first.

Read from Gateway Pundit:

Obama Hoping for ‘Tax Now, Cut Later’ Fiscal Deal

Fool me once, shame on you…
Democrats are hoping Republicans will fall for their “tax now, cut later” plan to raise taxes now to pay for their irresponsible spending with promises to cut spending later.
The Politico reported:
Listen to top Democrats and Republicans talk on camera, and it sounds like they could not be further apart on a year-end tax-and-spending deal — a down payment on a $4 trillion grand bargain.
But behind the scenes, top officials who have been involved in the talks for many months say the contours of a deal — including the size of tax hikes and spending cuts it will most likely contain — are starting to take shape…
There is no chance taxes are not going up for people making north of $250,000 — and virtually no chance that doesn’t include their tax rates, too.
Republicans publicly say they are opposed to rate hikes — but privately they know they are going up, if not all the way to the Clinton-era 39.6 percent, then darn close
…Officials familiar with the White House position say Obama plans zero flexibility on his insistence on a higher tax rate for top earners. He plans to take what one aide called a “trust but verify” position: He will insist on a higher rate in the year-end deal. Then next year, during tax-reform negotiations, “the onus will be on Republicans to propose something that raises the same amount of revenue,”the aide said. “He’s going to pocket their rate hike on the top two brackets at first, and then he’s going to say to them in the 2013 process that we set up: If you think you can realize these same revenues in a different way, prove it to me.”
Will Republicans really fall for this liberal ruse?
