The Cover-Up Coming from the Justice Department

It's more than disturbing to think that our government would resort to murder to achieve its leftist agenda because that's exactly what happened in the Fast and Furious scandal.  Obama makes Nixon look like a choir boy.

Read from John McTernan's Insights:

Fast and Furious

            Numbers 32:23

But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.

Commentary

As a retired federal agent, I followed Operation Fast and Furious very closely. From the beginning, it was very clear that the Justice Department was lying, and this was a massive cover-up.

Agent Brian Terry Murdered by a Fast and Furious Weapon
At least two federal agents were killed with the weapons from this operation along with 100s of Mexicans. It is impossible to tell the exact amount that were killed because the weapons were not recovered at the scene of the shooting.
The object of this operation was to get massive amounts of AK-47s from gun shops in America into the hands of the Mexican drug cartels, knowing they would be used to kill people. With all the deaths and carnage, this would be used as a tool to call for gun control! It was a scheme to get people killed and then use this politically to undermine the Second Amendment.
The evil hearts of the Hard Left Fascists/reprobates is beyond my imagination. These people are ruthless who will do anything to advance their agenda. I have often written on this blog that the Hard Left would kill to advance their agenda.
Obama Contributor, Who Helped Enact Assault-Weapons Ban, Ran ‘Fast and Furious’ 06/29/12 This is a lengthy article but please take the time to read this article as you will clearly see and understand the lies and cover-up coming from the Justice Department. Truly our government is in the hands of ruthless Hard Left Fascists who will kill to advance their agenda which was gun control.
“On ABC’s This Week, on June 24, reporter Jake Tapper asked House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Issa: “You really think that there’s a possibility that they were sending guns across the border not because they were trying to get people in the Mexican drug cartels, not because they were trying to figure out drug–I mean, gun trafficking–but because they were trying to push gun control?”
Rep. Issa said: “Two things quickly. First of all, this was so flawed that you can’t believe they expected to actually get criminal prosecutions as a result of it. So the level of flaw–flaw–flaw, if that’s a word, here is huge.” “But here’s the real answer as to gun control,” said Issa. “We have e-mails from people involved in this that are talking about using what they’re finding here to support the–basically assault weapons ban or greater reporting.” “So chicken or egg?” asked Issa. “We don’t know which came first; we probably never will. We do know that during this–this Fast and Furious operation, there were e-mails in which they’re saying we can use this as part of additional reporting or things like assault weapons ban. So the people involved saw the benefit of what–what they were gathering. Whether or not that was their original purpose, we probably will never know.”
One brave federal agent was a whistle blower that told Congress what was happening and started this investigation. He is a true hero who now is being persecuted for telling what happened.
Fast & Furious’ Whistleblower Tells Fox News ‘Nobody Has Asked My Political Affiliation’ Through All This 06/18/12 Federal agent John Dodson is the hero who exposed Fast and Furious.
“On Monday, Fox & Friends offered a look at Fox News’ exclusive interview with ATF agent John Dodson, the whistleblower who blew the lid on the botched “Fast and Furious” gunrunning operation”

Egypt Wants the Release of the Blind Sheik

Still think Mohammed Morsi is moderate, Mr. President?

Read from Weasel Zippers:

Egyptian President-elect Mohammed Morsi Promises to Seek Release of the Blind Sheik

And so we’re told that this is what democracy looks like.
CAIRO (AP) — President-elect Mohammed Morsi roused the masses in Tahrir Square on Friday, vowing to fight on behalf of the people and defying the ruling generals by reading a symbolic oath of office a day early at the site where Egypt’s revolution was born.
The country’s first Islamist president also made a pledge likely to complicate relations with the U.S., vowing to seek the release of blind sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman, jailed in the U.S. for plotting to blow up New York City landmarks and assassinate then-President Hosni Mubarak.
“We love you Morsi!” the crowd roared in response as the 60-year-old U.S.-trained engineer left the podium to get closer to the cheering crowd.
The promise to seek the release of the Egyptian-born Abdel-Rahman reflected the populist tone of Morsi’s speech — his first in the square that was the epicenter of the popular uprising that ousted Mubarak. He also said he would release all detained Egyptian protesters facing military tribunals.
Pointing to protesters holding photos of prisoners, including Abdel-Rahman, the spiritual leader of men convicted in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, Morsi declared: “I will make every effort, I will do it, starting tomorrow, to free them all, including Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman.”
“Everybody is hearing me now. The government . . . the military and the police. . . . No power above this power,” he told the tens of thousands of mostly Islamist supporters packing the square. “I reaffirm to you I will not give up any of the president’s authorities. I can’t afford to do this. I don’t have that right.”
Morsi’s words were a show of defiance as he gears up for a power struggle with the country’s ruling generals, who took over major presidential powers and disbanded the Islamist-controlled parliament in the days before the election results were released.
Still, the Muslim Brotherhood leader also avoided direct confrontation with the military leaders and was set to be officially sworn-in Saturday during a ceremony at the country’s high court — not parliament, the traditional venue — as dictated by the generals.
At one point, Morsi opened his jacket to show the crowd he was not wearing a bulletproof vest, then declared he “fears no one but God.”
The pledge to free Abdel-Rahman came in response to repeated calls by his ultraconservative supporters for the sheik to be repatriated to Egypt on humanitarian grounds. Abdel-Rahman is serving a life sentence.
While it was unclear what Morsi could do, the issue underscored that his victory could complicate relations with the U.S., although both sides have stated their desire to cooperate.
The U.S. State Department declined comment on Morsi’s pledge. “There’s zero chance that this happens,” said an administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss security issues.

Some Little Secrets About the Egyptian Election

What do the White House and Hamas have in common?  That's a disturbing thought that we could possibly have ANYTHING in common with a terrorist organization whose main goal in life is to kill Jews, but sadly we do.

Read from One News Now:

Egypt, Hamas, and the White House?
Dr. Michael Youssef
We don't often think of Hamas and the U.S. government as having anything in common. But in recent days, the terrorist organization and the White House have shared a common perspective: an enthusiastic support for the result of the Egyptian presidential election.

The Muslim Brotherhood's presidential candidate Mohammed Morsi (Photo: AP Photo)Last week, the White House and Hamas were united in their enthusiastic congratulations to Dr. Mohammad Morsi, the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood candidate. Morsi had just been elected president, and the Western press had hailed the vote as the first free election in Egyptian history.

But free it was not. In many small towns, election officials turned away Christians from voting because they knew they would vote for the non-favored candidate. In addition, the printer of the ballots claimed he had been paid 800,000 Egyptian pounds to pre-mark nearly two million ballots for the Muslim Brotherhood candidate.

However, the candidate should have never been on the ballot. Last year, the Muslim Brotherhood promised to never run a candidate for president, but they didn't keep their word. They also promised to run candidates in only some of the districts, but they didn't keep that promise either. That is why the Egyptian Supreme Court dissolved parliament.

Those are just a few examples of how the Muslim Brotherhood made a mockery of the so-called free election. It would have been more appropriate to call it a Hamas-like election.

During the past 16 months, I have often written about how, like Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood would hold a "one man, one vote, one time." Islamists do not understand democracy. It is completely alien to their DNA, and, by default, against the Sharia law. But to pacify naive governments and press in the West, they felt compelled to hold an election. It will be the last.

Dr. Mohammad Morsi, the newly "elected" Egyptian President, made many controversial statements in Arabic during the short campaign. Here are some of the points he made:
  • Their capital shall be Jerusalem
  • They will honor international treaties, but only if the treaties serve their purpose
  • Sharia should not be feared
  • In his speech after the "election," Morsi made it clear that he must obey Allah and apply his Sharia
  • The 11 million Christians in Egypt may stay as long as they pay the Jizya (a penalty paid by non-Muslims in an Islamic state)
One of the White House's most tragic missteps occurred in February 2011 when one of President Obama's national security advisors testified before Congress that the Muslim Brotherhood is a secular organization.

After spending 30 years studying Islamic groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood, I can only assume that a statement like that would make Hassan al-Banna (who founded the Muslim Brotherhood) and Said Kotob (who co-opted the principals of the Wahhabi Islamic movement into the Muslim brotherhood) turn in their graves.

Muslim Brotherhood SealEven a child can look at the Muslim Brotherhood flag, with the two crossed swords and the words, "Get Ready," and understand that they intend to destroy any semblance of secularism.

When will the West learn that ingratiating themselves to Islamists in hope of encouraging moderation is pure ignorance? It will ultimately boomerang ever so severely. When that happens, may God have mercy on whatever is left of the West.

The Truth Behind Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood is not only an evil abortion mill which is using our hard-earned dollars to murder the unborn, it also makes a habit of lying about its atrocities.

Get some truths from Life News:

Planned Parenthood’s “Abortions Are Just 3%” Claim is False

As we’re all VERY familiar with by now, Planned Parenthood absolutely insists that abortions only comprise 3% of their “services.” Now, even if this were an accurate representation of the truth, it would be abhorrent.
When you render 11,003,366 services in a year, and 329,445 of them are abortions, that’s nothing to be proud of. That’s equal to 329,445 murders, and it’s terrible. It should never be funded by the government or allowed by the public.
How would we like it if a mob boss told us that only 3% of his business was execution-style shootings. Or maybe, he only hired 3% of his staff as hit men. We’d be quite indignant that anyone in America was allowed to dedicate even 3% of their business to killing innocent people. And that’s if the number really was as low as 3%.
But it’s not. And that’s a fact.
Here’s how the numbers actually crunch down. According to Planned Parenthood’s 2010 Affiliate Medical Services Summary (the most recent on record), they claim that 33.5% of their services are contraceptives. But 39.7% of those contraceptives are actually “Emergency Contraception Kits”. We are fully aware, thanks to public debate, that the entire purpose of Emergency Contraceptives…like the Morning After Pill…is to kill any unborn child that may be present. It’s just abortion by another name. And it’s just as wrong. Granted, a pregnancy test will not reveal if a woman is pregnant that early on, but the whole purpose of Emergency Contraceptives is to kill the baby if the woman is pregnant. That’s the whole and only purpose.
With that understanding, 13.3% of Planned Parenthood’s entire services are dedicated to Emergency Contraceptives. These should be considered the same as abortions because of their purpose, as I described above. While not every woman who takes the Morning After Pill actually is pregnant, her goal is to kill her child if she has one. So, add this 13.3% to the 3% Planned Parenthood claims, and you have over 16% of their services going to abortion.
This, of course, says nothing of the percentage in money going to abortion. It’s kind of silly for Planned Parenthood…very ridiculous, in fact…to equate one pregnancy test or one condom handout as the same kind of service as one abortion. They couldn’t be more different in time, cost, or effect. This isn’t news to Planned Parenthood either. Clearly, they just want to make themselves look like a vital health service when they are really just a money hungry abortion giant, preying on women, men, and babies.
They themselves avoid discussing the amount of their work that truly goes into abortions. I don’t see abortions mentioned even once by name in the letter written by Cecile Richards and Valerie McCarthy that accompanies their new fact sheet. If abortions are such a vital part of women’s “reproductive justice”, why not be proud of the fact that you’re the largest provider in the nation. Apparently, Ms. Richards and Ms. McCarthy are rather ashamed, as they should be.
One of the most appalling figures apparent in the new fact sheet is how much of our own money continues to go to abortion. Planned Parenthood had a budget in 2010 of 1.0482 BILLION dollars. Over 46 percent of their budget came to them in the form of taxpayer dollars. (That’s 487, 400,000 as a gift from us to Planned Parenthood).
Finally, Planned Parenthood clearly attempts to twist numbers to their own advantage. They state, “Our broad base of committed donors provides approximately 78 percent of the national organization’s revenue and nearly 16 percent of affiliate revenue—evidence of our powerful grassroots support.”
First off, it’s pretty sad to claim 78 percent donor base support for the portion of your organization that uses less than 10 percent of your revenue. Planned Parenthood affiliates eat up 10 times the money that the national organization does, and as Planned Parenthood themselves admits, the affiliates are less than 16 percent donor supported. That’s powerful grassroots support? Wow. No wonder they rely so much on free taxpayer money.
Only $223,800,000 of Planned Parenthood’s 1.0482 billion dollars actually comes from donations. That’s roughly 20 percent total. While I’m sure any organization would love to receive over 200 million dollars from their donors, it’s not evidence of a “powerful” grassroots base when it’s less than 1/5 of the actual budget. In addition, Planned Parenthood themselves admits that a significant portion of this donor money comes from corporations and extremely liberal foundations.
Those are just a few of the facts behind Planned Parenthood’s twisted numbers and promotion of abortion by another name. I’d encourage you to go look at the report yourself and see what discrepancies you can find.

Sharia in Egypt

So much for the lies coming out of Egypt about how nothing will change under Mohammed Morsi.

Read from Jihad Watch:

Egyptian Salafi leader: Muslim Brotherhood has agreed that Sharia will be the main source of legislation

In the West, we get these smooth lies from deceptive Islamic supremacists: "There's really no such thing as just Sharia, it's not one monolithic Continuum - Sharia is understood in thousands of different ways over the 1,500 years in which multiple and competing schools of law have tried to construct some kind of civic penal and family law code that would abide by Islamic values and principles, it's understood in many different ways..." -- Reza Aslan
But in Egypt and other Muslim countries, everyone seems to know exactly what Sharia is and what it involves: stonings, amputations, the death penalty for apostasy, the subjugation of women, the oppression of non-Muslims, etc. That's why Yasser Borhamy addresses fears of Sharia coming to Egypt not by saying "We're going to implement a benign, expansive, human-rights-respecting brand of Sharia" but by telling people that they shouldn't fear Sharia, because it is the law of Allah. He takes for granted that his audience knows exactly what Sharia is, and that he is referring to the same thing that they have in mind.
So is Boy Reza lying, or is he just stupid? The jury is still out.
"Salafi leader: Brotherhood agrees Sharia, not principles, will be source of legislation," from Egypt Independent, June 30 (thanks to David):
Prominent Salafi leader and preacher Yasser Borhamy has said that the Muslim Brotherhood has agreed with the Salafi vision to have a constitution that cites Sharia as the main source for the legislation, rather than the principles of Sharia.
Article II of 1971 Constitution, which is copied into the current Constitutional Declaration, reads "Islam is the religion of the state. Arabic is its official language, and principles of Islamic jurisprudence (Sharia) are the main source of legislation." A 1979 amendment had replaced "a main source" with "the main source."
According to legal experts, deleting the word "principles“ means that Sharia will play a bigger role in drafting legislation.
In an interview with Al-Shorouk newspaper on Saturday, Borhamy said, “we insist that the article states that 'Islamic Sharia law is the main source of legislation,’ not ‘the principles of Sharia.'
We will not give up on this matter. The Muslim Brotherhood assured us that they agree with us on the formula of Islamic Sharia law without [mentioning] ‘principles.'”
The Salafi preacher said, “What is disturbing in the Islamic Sharia law, is Sharia bothering anyone? We do not say ‘our views on Sharia,’ but we say that we want the Sharia law revealed by God. Would anyone be afraid of the Sharia that establishes justice, [public] interest and wisdom? This is very strange. How is it said that people are afraid of Sharia?”...

Higher Healthcare Costs for Soldiers

Always looking out for the troops, are you, Mr. President?  Any soldier who supports Obama after this needs a good kick in the butt.

Read from Weasel Zippers:

Obama Threatens To Veto Defense Spending Bill Unless Soldiers Are Forced To Pay Higher Health Care Fees…

]
Disgraceful.
Via Free Beacon:
The Obama administration on Friday threatened to veto a defense appropriations bill in part because it does not include higher health care fees for members of the military.
“The Administration is disappointed that the Congress did not incorporate the requested TRICARE fee initiatives into either the appropriation or authorization legislation,” the White House wrote in an official policy statement expressing opposition to the bill, which the House approved in May.
President Obama’s most recent budget proposal includes billions of dollars in higher fees for members of TRICARE, the military health care system, and is part of the administration’s plan to cut nearly $500 billion from the Pentagon’s budget.

A Gloomy Forecast for the Fall

Is the "Perfect Storm" on the Horizon?   All the ingredients are in store for some rough times ahead.  Be wise and prepare because the future does not look promising regarding our economy.

Put your trust in Jesus Christ.  If He is your foundation, you have nothing to fear because He has promised to meet all the needs of His children.  So, while the whole world flounders in fear, we can have that peace which passes all understanding that He will see us through.

17 Reasons To Be EXTREMELY Concerned About The Second Half Of 2012

What is the second half of 2012 going to bring?  Are things going to get even worse than they are right now?  Unfortunately, that appears more likely with each passing day.  I will admit that I am extremely concerned about the second half of 2012.  Historically, a financial crisis is much more likely to begin in the fall than during any other season of the year.  Just think about it.  The stock market crash of 1929 happened in the fall.  "Black Monday" happened on October 19th, 1987.  The financial crisis of 2008 started in the fall.  There just seems to be something about the fall that brings out the worst in the financial markets.  But of course there is not a stock market crash every year.  So are there specific reasons why we should be extremely concerned about what is coming this year?  Yes, there are.  The ingredients for a "perfect storm" are slowly coming together, and in the months ahead we could very well see the next wave of the economic collapse strike.  Sadly, we have never even come close to recovering from the last recession, and this next crisis might end up being even more painful than the last one.
The following are 17 reasons to be extremely concerned about the second half of 2012....
#1 Historical Trends
A recent IMF research paper by Luc Laeven and Fabián Valencia showed that a banking crisis is far more likely to start in September than in any other month.  The following chart is from their report....
So what will this September bring?
#2 JP Morgan
Do you remember back in May when JP Morgan announced that it would be taking a 2 billion dollar trading loss on some derivatives trades gone bad?  Well, the New York Times is now reporting that the real figure could reach 9 billion dollars, but nobody really knows for sure.  At some point is JP Morgan going to need a bailout?  If so, what is that going to do to the U.S. financial system?
#3 Derivatives
Last week, Moody's downgraded the credit ratings of 15 major global banks.  As a result, a number of them have been required to post billions of dollars in additional collateral against derivatives exposures....
Citigroup’s two-notch long-term rating downgrade from A3 to Baa2 could have led to US$500m in additional liquidity and funding demands due to derivative triggers and exchange margin requirements, according to the bank’s 10Q regulatory filing at the end of the first quarter.
Morgan Stanley – which Moody’s downgraded from A2 to Baa1 – said a two-notch downgrade from both Moody’s and Standard and Poor’s could spur an additional US$6.8bn of collateral requirements in its latest 10Q. The bank did not break down its potential collateral calls under a scenario where only Moody’s downgraded the bank below the Single A threshold.
Royal Bank of Scotland estimated it may have to post £9bn of collateral as a result of the one-notch Moody’s downgrade to Baa1 in a statement on June 21, but did not detail how much of this additional requirement was driven by margin for swaps exposures.
The worldwide derivatives market is starting to show some cracks, and at some point this is going to become a major disaster.
Remember, the 9 largest U.S. banks have a total of more than 200 trillion dollars of exposure to derivatives.  When this bubble completely bursts it is going to be impossible to fix.
#4 LEAP/E2020 Warning
LEAP/E2020 has issued a red alert for the global financial system for this fall.  They are warning that the "second half of 2012" will represent a "major inflection point" for the global economic system....
The shock of the autumn 2008 will seem like a small summer storm compared to what will affect planet in several months.
In fact LEAP/E2020 has never seen the chronological convergence of such a series of explosive and so fundamental factors (economy, finances, geopolitical…) since 2006, the start of its work on the global systemic crisis. Logically, in our modest attempt to regularly publish a “crisis weather forecast”, we must therefore give our readers a “Red Alert” because the upcoming events which are readying themselves to shake the world system next September/ October belong to this category.
#5 Increasing Pessimism
One recent survey of corporate executives found that only 20 percent of them expect the global economy to improve over the next 12 months and 48 percent of them expect the global economy to get worse over the next 12 months.
#6 Spain
The Spanish financial system is basically a total nightmare at this point.  Moody's recently downgraded Spanish debt to one level above junk status, and earlier this week Moody's downgraded the credit ratings of 28 major Spanish banks.
According to CNBC, Spain's short-term borrowing costs are now about three times higher than they were just one month ago....
Spain's short-term borrowing costs nearly tripled at auction on Tuesday, underlining the country's precarious finances as it struggles against recession and juggles with a debt crisis among its newly downgraded banks.
The yield paid on a 3-month bill was 2.362 percent, up from just 0.846 percent a month ago. For six-month paper, it leapt to 3.237 percent from 1.737 percent in May.
Needless to say, this is very, very bad news.
#7 Italy
The situation in Italy continues to deteriorate and many analysts believe that it could be one of the next dominoes to fall.  The following is from a recent Businessweek article....
The euro zone’s third-biggest economy is seen as the next domino at risk of toppling after the European Union’s June 9 deal to lend Spain $125 billion in bank bailout funds. Yields on Italy’s 10-year government bonds reached 6.2 percent on June 13, up from just 4.8 percent in March. By pushing up Italy’s borrowing costs out of fear of default, investors are making a default more likely.
A recent Fortune article detailed some of the economic fundamentals that have so many economists deeply concerned about the Italian economy right now....
The main glaring risk threats that could propel Italy down the path to become Europe's next domino is the size of country's outstanding debt (at €1.9 trillion or 120% of GDP); the mountain of debt it has to roll over in the next 12 months (nearly €400 billion); and the market's cracking credibility around Prime Minister Mario Monti's ability to reduce the country's fiscal footprint and spur growth.
Further, fear around Italy's creditworthiness, which has recently been expressed by near cycle highs in sovereign CDS spreads and government yields on the 10-year bond, follow some rather glaring negative fundamentals over recent quarters and years:  declining GDP over the last three consecutive quarters; a rising unemployment rate (especially among its youth); deterioration in labor market competitiveness; and increased competition for export goods to its key trading partners.
#8 Greece
I have written extensively about the financial nightmare that is unfolding in Greece.  Unemployment has soared past the 20 percent mark, youth unemployment is above 50 percent, the Greek economy has contracted by close to 25 percent over the past four years and now Greek politicians are saying that a third bailout package may be necessary.
#9 Cyprus
The tiny island nation of Cyprus has become the fifth member of the eurozone to formally request a bailout.  This is yet another sign that the eurozone is rapidly falling apart.
#10 Germany
German Chancellor Angela Merkel continues to promote an austerity path for Europe and she continues to maintain her very firm position against any kind of eurozone debt sharing....
Merkel, speaking to a conference in Berlin today as Spain announced it would formally seek aid for its banks, dismissed “euro bonds, euro bills and European deposit insurance with joint liability and much more” as “economically wrong and counterproductive,” saying that they ran against the German constitution.
“It’s not a bold prediction to say that in Brussels most eyes -- all eyes -- will be on Germany yet again,” Merkel said. “I say quite openly: when I think of the summit on Thursday I’m concerned that once again the discussion will be far too much about all kinds of ideas for joint liability and far too little about improved oversight and structural measures.”
In fact, Merkel says that there will be no eurobonds "as long as I live".  This means that there will be no "quick fix" for the problems that are unfolding in Europe.
#11 Bank Runs
Every single day, hundreds of billions of dollars is being pulled out of banks in southern Europe.  Much of that money is being transferred to banks in northern Europe.
In a previous article I included an extremely alarming quote from a CNBC article about the unfolding banking crisis in Europe....
Financial advisers and private bankers whose clients have accounts too large to be covered by a Europe-wide guarantee on deposits up to 100,000 euros ($125,000), are reporting a "bank run by wire transfer" that has picked up during May.
Much of this money has headed north to banks in London, Frankfurt and Geneva, financial advisers say.
"It's been an ongoing process but it certainly picked up pace a couple of weeks ago We believe there is a continuous 2-3 year bank run by wire transfer," said Lorne Baring, managing director at B Capital, a Geneva-based pan European wealth management firm.
How long can these bank runs continue before banking systems start to collapse?
#12 Preparations For The Collapse Of The Eurozone
As I have written about previously, the smart money has already written off southern Europe.  All over the continent major financial institutions are preparing for the worst.  For example, just check out what Visa Europe is doing....
Visa Europe is holding weekly meetings to discuss scenarios in the event the euro zone collapses, joining other companies that are preparing for a potential breakup of the currency bloc.
Chief Commercial Officer Steve Perry said Tuesday that management at the U.K.-based credit-card company meets weekly to explore various possible outcomes, including a total collapse of the euro zone.
#13 Global Lending Is Slowing Down
All over the globe the flow of credit is beginning to freeze up.  In fact, the Bank for International Settlements says that worldwide lending is contracting at the fastest pace since the financial crisis of 2008.
#14 Sophisticated Cyber Attacks On Banks
It is being reported that "very sophisticated" hackers have successfully raided dozens of banks in Europe.  So far, it is being estimated that they have stolen 60 million euros....
Sixty million euro has been stolen from bank accounts in a massive cyber bank raid after fraudsters raided dozens of financial institutions around the world.
According to a joint report by software security firm McAfee and Guardian Analytics, more than 60 firms have suffered from what it has called an "insider level of understanding".
What happens someday if we wake up and all the money in the banks is gone?
#15 U.S. Municipal Bankruptcies
All over the United States there are cities and towns on the verge of financial disaster.  This week Stockton, California became the largest U.S. city to ever declare bankruptcy, but the reality is that this is only just the beginning of the municipal debt crisis....
Stockton, California, said it will file for bankruptcy after talks with bondholders and labor unions failed, making the agricultural center the biggest U.S. city to seek court protection from creditors.
“The city is fiscally insolvent and must seek Chapter 9 bankruptcy protection,” Stockton said in a statement released yesterday after its council voted 6-1 to adopt a spending plan for operating under bankruptcy protection.
#16 The Obamacare Decision
The U.S. economy is already a complete and total mess, and now the Obamacare decision is going to throw a huge wet blanket on it.  All over America, small business owners are saying that they are going to have to let some workers go because they cannot afford to keep them all under Obamacare.  It would be hard to imagine a more job killing law than Obamacare, and now that the Supreme Court decision has finally been announced we are going to see many businesses making some really hard decisions.
#17 The U.S. Election
It is being reported that Barack Obama is putting together an army of "thousands of lawyers" to deal with any disputes that arise over voting procedures or results.  It certainly looks like this upcoming election is going to be extremely close, and there is the potential that we could end up facing another Bush v. Gore scenario where the fate of the presidency is determined in court.  This campaign season is likely to be exceptionally nasty, and I fear what may happen if there is not a decisive winner on election day.  The possibility of significant civil unrest is certainly there.
We definitely live in "interesting" times.
Personally, I am deeply concerned about the September, October, November time frame.
The other day, Joe Biden delivered a speech in which he made the following statement....
"It's A Depression For Millions And Millions Of Americans"
And what Biden said was right for once.  Millions of Americans are out of work right now and millions of Americans have fallen out of the middle class in recent years.  If you have lost everything, it does feel like you are living through a depression.
When people lose everything, they tend to get desperate.  And desperate people do desperate things - especially when they are angry.
A whole host of recent opinion polls have shown that anger and frustration in the United States are rising to unprecedented levels.  The ingredients are certainly there for an explosion.  Someone just needs to come along and light the fuse.  We truly do live in frightening times.
Let us hope for the best, but let us also prepare for the worst.

Another Perspective on ObamaCare

It's very difficult to make John Roberts out to be a hero in all this ObamaCare ruling.  Nevertheless, take a gander at this.

From the Independent Journal:

Why Chief Justice Roberts Made the Right Long-Term Decision With ObamaCare

 JUNE 28, 2012 3:59 PM
Before you look to do harm to Chief Justice Roberts or his family, it’s important that you think carefully about the meaning – the true nature — of his ruling on Obama-care. The Left will shout that they won, that Obama-care was upheld and all the rest. Let them.
It will be a short-lived celebration.
Here’s what really occurred — payback. Yes, payback for Obama’s numerous, ill-advised and childish insults directed toward SCOTUS.

Chief Justice Roberts actually ruled the mandate, relative to the commerce clause, was unconstitutional. That’s how the Democrats got Obama-care going in the first place. This is critical. His ruling means Congress can’t compel American citizens to purchase anything. Ever. The notion is now officially and forever, unconstitutional. As it should be.
Next, he stated that, because Congress doesn’t have the ability to mandate, it must, to fund Obama-care, rely on its power to tax. Therefore, the mechanism that funds Obama-care is a tax. This is also critical. Recall back during the initial Obama-care battles, the Democrats called it a penalty, Republicans called it a tax. Democrats consistently soft sold it as a penalty. It went to vote as a penalty. Obama declared endlessly, that it was not a tax, it was a penalty. But when the Democrats argued in front of the Supreme Court, they said ‘hey, a penalty or a tax, either way’. So, Roberts gave them a tax. It is now the official law of the land — beyond word-play and silly shenanigans. Obama-care is funded by tax dollars. Democrats now must defend a tax increase to justify the Obama-care law.
Finally, he struck down as unconstitutional, the Obama-care idea that the federal government can bully states into complying by yanking their existing medicaid funding. Liberals, through Obama-care, basically said to the states — ‘comply with Obama-care or we will stop existing funding.’ Roberts ruled that is a no-no. If a state takes the money, fine, the Feds can tell the state how to run a program, but if the state refuses money, the federal government can’t penalize the state by yanking other funding. Therefore, a state can decline to participate in Obama-care without penalty. This is obviously a serious problem. Are we going to have 10, 12, 25 states not participating in “national” health-care? Suddenly, it’s not national, is it?
Ultimately, Roberts supported states rights by limiting the federal government’s coercive abilities. He ruled that the government can not force the people to purchase products or services under the commerce clause and he forced liberals to have to come clean and admit that Obama-care is funded by tax increases.
Although he didn’t guarantee Romney a win, he certainly did more than his part and should be applauded.
And he did this without creating a civil war or having bricks thrown threw his windshield. Oh, and he’ll be home in time for dinner.
Brilliant.

Some of the Good Points Worth Mentioning

We conservatives have been dealt a hard blow with the Supreme Court's ruling in favor of ObamaCare.  Rather than dwelling on all the negatives, we should at least look at some of the positives.

Read from Human Events:

ROBERTS FORCES US TO DEAL WITH HEALTH CARE POLITICALLY — AND THAT’S OK

Roberts forces us to deal with health care politically -- and that's OK

Having gone through the opinion, I am not going to beat up on John Roberts. I am disappointed, but I want to make a few points. John Roberts is playing at a different game than the rest of us. We’re on poker. He’s on chess.
First, I get the strong sense from a few anecdotal stories about Roberts over the past few months and the way he has written this opinion that he very, very much was concerned about keeping the Supreme Court above the partisan fray and damaging the reputation of the Court long term. It seems to me the left was smart to make a full frontal assault on the Court as it persuaded Roberts.
Second, in writing his case, Roberts forces everyone to deal with the issue as a political, not a legal issue. In the past twenty years, Republicans have punted a number of issues to the Supreme Court asking the Court to save us from ourselves. They can’t do that with Roberts. They tried with McCain-Feingold, which was originally upheld. This case is a timely reminder to the GOP that five votes are not a sure thing.
Third, while Roberts has expanded the taxation power, which I don’t really think is a massive expansion from what it was, Roberts has curtailed the commerce clause as an avenue for Congressional overreach. In so doing, he has affirmed the Democrats are massive taxers. In fact, I would argue that this may prevent future mandates in that no one is going to go around campaigning on new massive tax increases. On the upside, I guess we can tax the h*** out of abortion now. Likewise, in a 7 to 2 decision, the Court shows a strong majority still recognize the concept of federalism and the restrains of Congress in forcing states to adhere to the whims of the federal government.
Fourth, in forcing us to deal with this politically, the Democrats are going to have a hard time running to November claiming the American people need to vote for them to preserve Obamacare. It remains deeply, deeply unpopular with the American people. If they want to make a vote for them a vote for keeping a massive tax increase, let them try.
Fifth, the decision totally removes a growing left-wing talking point that suddenly they must vote for Obama because of judges. The Supreme Court as a November issue for the left is gone. For the right? That sound you hear is the marching of libertarians into Camp Romney, with noses held, knowing that the libertarian and conservative coalitions must unite to defeat Obama and Obamacare.
Finally, while I am not down on John Roberts like many of you are today, I will be very down on Congressional Republicans if they do not now try to shut down the individual mandate. Force the Democrats on the record about the mandate. Defund Obamacare. This now, by necessity, is a political fight and the GOP sure as hell should fight.
60 percent of Americans agree with them on the issue. And guess what? The Democrats have been saying for a while that individual pieces of Obamacare are quite popular. With John Roberts’ opinion, the repeal fight takes place on GOP turf, not Democrat turf. The all or nothing repeal has always been better ground for the GOP and now John Roberts has forced everyone onto that ground.
It seems very, very clear to me in reviewing John Roberts’ decision that he is playing a much longer game than us and can afford to with a life tenure. And he probably just handed Mitt Romney the White House.
*A friend points out one other thing — go back to 2009. Olympia Snowe was the deciding vote to get Obamacare out of the Senate Committee. Had she voted no, we’d not be here now.
