Obama Takes It to the Fishing Industry

Obama is out to destroy the business community.  After all, if businesses are successful, then the public won't need to rely on the federal government for its daily necessities.

He sure has done his part to destroy any efforts to utilize our fossil fuels.  He's killing small businesses with his threat of higher taxes, higher energy costs, higher healthcare rates, and let us not forget the ridiculous amount of unnecessary regulations stifling business.

Now, Obama is tackling another industry -- the fishermen in Maine.  It should be interesting to see how these New England liberals will react to this latest move.

Obama Set to Kill Off Maine Fishing Industry to Save Already Abundant Porpoise Population

It’s an Obama world.
Maine fisherman say catching a porpoise in their nets is like hitting a deer with your car. There are an estimated 89,700 porpoises thriving in the area. But Barack Obama will force local fishermen to shut down during the crucial fall months to save these animals.

But the Obama Administration will force local fishermen to shutdown in the Port of Maine in order to save an already abundant porpoise population.
Business Insider reported, via Free Republic:

Fisherman Lou Williams sees plenty of harbor porpoises, usually swimming in small pods well away from his boat, unlike the herds of lookalike dolphins that get close enough to ride his vessel’s wake.

A place Williams doesn’t see many porpoises is his nets.

“It’s a rare occasion,” said Williams, 55, who fishes out of Gloucester. “I don’t think more than a couple this year.”

But federal regulators say far too many porpoises in the Gulf of Maine are drowning in fishing gear, specifically the stationary nets that Williams and other fishermen use, called gillnets.

The estimated fatalities are so high, they triggered a provision in federal rules that will close a busy fishing ground that extends from Gloucester to southern Maine to gillnets for two months annually, starting this Oct. 1.

Some say the fishermen bear much of the blame for the closure. The porpoise can be avoided by equipping the nets with so-called pingers, which make periodic beeps that drive the porpoises away. All gillnetters are supposed to have working pingers at the corners of each of the nets they string together, but federal regulators said fishermen who use the affected area had only a 41 percent compliance rate.

“The industry has done itself a great disfavor, at least this segment of the industry, by not going up full bore … with compliance,” said David Pierce, a member of New England Fishery Management Council.

Fishermen are trying to maintain functioning pingers, but it’s difficult to tell when the devices break down, said Mike Russo, a fisherman who spoke at a council meeting last week. The closure was coming at a terrible time for an industry struggling to survive various new restrictions, he added.

The shutdown will affect $4 million in annual revenues for an already struggling fishing industry.
The Republic reported:

Williams said everyone he knows has functioning pingers, and questioned whether there would truly be dire consequences if one or two don’t work on several strings of nets.

He also questioned the need to shut down a crucial fishing area to help a robust population of porpoise, comparing it to penalizing a driver for hitting a deer.

Williams said he lands about 50 percent of his annual catch of bottom-dwelling groundfish during October and November, when the shutdown is scheduled. According to federal numbers, fishermen pulled in about $4 million in revenues during that period over the past two years.

The loss is huge in an industry that’s fighting for its future as it faces significant cuts in key stocks such as cod in the Gulf of Maine and yellowtail flounder in Georges Bank. There’s also no obvious end to the annual closure to protect porpoise, since the requirement to reduce accidental porpoise deaths down to 70 per year looks a long way off. The team of regulators, fisherman and environmentalists that devised the closure could conceivably decide there are better alternatives to shutting down the area, but they don’t meet until this fall.

Al Qaeda Defeated?

So says the Obama regime in hopes of impressing voters for the coming election.  Such lunacy I have never heard.  Do they take us for complete morons?

Seth Jones: Al Qaeda Is Far From Defeated

While the U.S. prepares a strategic shift toward the Far East, evidence mounts that the terrorist organization is resurgent in the Muslim world.

A year after U.S. forces killed Osama bin Laden, most policy makers and pundits believe al Qaeda is near collapse. "Another nail in the coffin," one senior U.S. official told me after the death of an al Qaeda operative in Pakistan last month from a U.S. drone strike. In testimony before the Senate in February, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said the core al Qaeda is likely becoming of "symbolic importance."

This conclusion is presumptuous. As the administration looks eastward—a strategy that incorporates China's rise—underestimating al Qaeda would be a dangerous mistake. With a handful of regimes teetering from the Arab Spring, al Qaeda is pushing into the vacuum and riding a resurgent wave as its affiliates engage in a violent campaign of attacks across the Middle East and North Africa.

Take a look around the Arab world.

In Yemen, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has increased control in such provinces as Shabwah and Abyan, as the central government in Sana faces a leadership crisis and multiple insurgencies. From this sanctuary, al Qaeda continues to plot attacks against the U.S. homeland, according to U.S. government assessments, ranging from plans for bombs hidden in cameras and printer cartridges to ones surgically implanted in humans and animals.

Across the Gulf of Aden in Somalia, militants of the al Qaeda affiliate al Shabaab bombarded the city of Baidoa in April, trying to expand their foothold in southern portions of the country. With a growing number of American citizens from cities like Minneapolis and Phoenix traveling to—and from—Somalia to fight alongside al Shabaab, there is an increasing likelihood that radicalized operatives could perpetrate an attack in the United States. A report last year by the House Committee on Homeland Security found that al Shabaab had recruited at least 40 Somali-Americans from immigrant communities in the U.S.

Another trend pointing to al Qaeda's resurgence is the size of its global network. Since Sept. 11, 2001, it has expanded the number of affiliated groups. Along with Somalia's al Shabaab, they now include al Qaeda in Iraq—which is increasing its foothold in Baghdad, Diyala and Saladin provinces. Also active are al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and, in North Africa, al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. The leaders of these affiliates have sworn bayat, or loyalty, to al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri and provided him with funding, global influence, and a cadre of trained fighters. None of these organizations existed a decade ago.

Al Qaeda has also established relationships with a growing number of allied groups such as the Pakistani Taliban, Pakistan's Lashkar-e-Taiba and Nigeria's Boko Haram. While these are not formal members of al Qaeda, a loose arrangement allows them to cooperate with al Qaeda for specific operations or training when their interests converge. And several of them—the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and Lashkar-e-Taiba—have been actively recruiting in the U.S.

As for al Qaeda's own leadership in Pakistan—it is not dead, despite claims from some U.S. officials. Ayman al-Zawahiri took over as leader of al Qaeda after bin Laden's death, and Abu Yahya al-Libi, the head of al Qaeda's religious committee, became his deputy. They are flanked by a new cast of operatives such as Hamza al-Ghamdi (a top facilitator for Zawahiri), Abd al-Rahman al-Maghrebi (media committee), and Abu Zayd al-Kuwaiti al-Husaynan (religious committee).

To be sure, security concerns have prohibited al Qaeda's central shura, or council, from playing a major strategic and operational role overseas, at least for the moment. The shura can't meet as a group anymore and its members spend an inordinate amount of time simply trying to survive. Yet as America's relationship with Pakistan continues to deteriorate, how long will the U.S. be able to pressure a state whose intelligence service has ties with some of al Qaeda's allies, such as the Haqqani network and Lashkar-e-Taiba?

Finally, there is the fact that attacks by al Qaeda and its affiliates have increased over the past several years, according to data from the Global Terrorism Database at the University of Maryland. Even since bin Laden's death, al Qaeda affiliates have maintained a steady operational tempo. According to U.S. government data, al Qaeda in Iraq has conducted more than 200 attacks and killed more than a thousand Iraqis since the bin Laden raid—a jump from the previous year.

Despite all this evidence that al Qaeda is regrouping, the Obama administration is turning its attention toward the Far East. It has pulled U.S. military forces out of Iraq and plans to have them out of Afghanistan in 2014. The first tranche of Marines to be withdrawn from Afghanistan has already landed in Australia as part of America's most significant expansion in the Pacific since the end of the Vietnam War. The Department of Defense's new strategic guidance, released in January with a forward by President Obama, concludes that the U.S. will continue to conduct some counterterrorism but now "rebalance toward the Asian-Pacific region."

Addressing U.S. interests in the Far East is important, but not if it means losing focus on America's most pressing danger zone: the arc running from North Africa to the Middle East and South Asia that is the heart of al Qaeda's territory. In Afghanistan and Pakistan, U.S. special operations and other combat forces will be needed to target militants and train Afghan forces well after 2014. The same is true in Yemen, Somalia and other countries across the region, where U.S. forces—especially clandestine special operations, intelligence units and law enforcement—must play a critical, long-term role in targeting al Qaeda and building local capacity.

Al Qaeda is far from dead. Acting as if it were will not make it so.

The Bush Tax Cuts Worked

With all the class warfare rhetoric consuming the airwaves, the public is not hearing the truth about the Bush tax cuts.  Yes, they did benefit the rich, but they also helped the less prosperous.  My family is certainly far from wealthy; we have an average income, nowhere near the often mentioned $250,000 per year or  even $100,000 for that matter.  When we took our taxes to our tax accountant, we were told to expect a tax increase next year if the Bush tax cuts are not extended.

How many people are aware of this fact?  I would guess if they knew the truth, they would have a change of heart regarding raising tax rates.

And when it comes down to it, I would wager that few Americans realize that lowering taxes actually increases the revenues coming into the Treasury.  After all, isn't getting more monies into the Treasury to fund our enormous debt the ultimate goal for those concerned about our indebtedness?

Are Bush tax cuts behind the Obama malaise?

President Barack Obama has displayed an insatiable appetite for higher taxes, but Americans are wary of trusting him with any more of their money. 

He has demonstrated staggering economic incompetence, manifested in his weak “recovery,” a $1.3 trillion deficit, doubling gas prices, and unemployment that remains above 8 percent.  For each of his economic failures, Obama has a scapegoat—“speculators,” the “top one percent,” or his favorite, the Bush tax cuts of 2003. At various times, he has blamed these tax cuts for his weak economy, for his deficit, for allowing the rich to avoid paying their “fair share” of taxes, and for harming middle classincomes.

On each of these points, the president’s claims are the exact opposite of the truth, as is shown by his own government’s statistics. (See table)

From the crippling dot-com bust and terrorist attacks of 2001 until the tax cuts of 2003, real gross domestic product growth hobbled along at an average of just 1.8 percent per year. Far from further weakening this performance, the Bush tax cuts increased real GDP growth to 2.78 percent per year through 2007, when the housing bubble burst.

Rather than increasing the deficit by reducing revenues, the Bush tax cuts actuallyincreased revenues, reducing the deficit. Before the tax cuts, federal tax receipts had been falling an average of 4.14 percent per year. The Bush tax cuts reversed this trend: by cutting tax rates, they increased tax revenues by a remarkable average of 9.62 percent per year. As a result the deficit, which had hit $378 billion before the tax cuts, was slashed by more than two-thirds during this period.

Did the Bush tax cuts allow “the rich” to avoid their “fair share” of taxes? On the contrary, the Bush tax cuts actually increased the share of total income taxes paid by the wealthiest Americans. Before the tax cuts, the top one percent paid an average of less than 34 percent of all income taxes each year. The Bush tax cuts increased this to more than 39 percent. The president’s argument that eliminating these tax cuts would make the rich pay their fair share implies that they were paying their fair share before the tax cuts, which implies that their fair share is only 34 percent. Given his Mr. Spock-like “adherence to logic,” one must conclude that Obama secretly believes that, at 39 percent, the rich are now paying more than their fair share.

Nor was this increase in the share of taxes paid by the rich achieved by causing middle class incomes to stagnate or fall. Before the tax cuts, the adjusted gross income of the bottom 75 percent of Americans was growing an average of just 1.44 percent per year. As a result of the Bush tax cuts, the income growth rate of the bottom 75 percent more than doubled, their adjusted gross income per capita increasing an average of 3.24 percent per year.

Nor are the positive results of the Bush tax cuts an aberration. In 1997, President Clinton cut the capital gains tax from 28 to 20 percent. As shown in the table, the results were much like those of the Bush tax cuts.

If President Obama really wants to grow the economy, increase revenues, shrink the deficit, shift more of the tax burden onto the rich, and raise middle-class incomes, he must learn from history. If he really wants what he says, Obama must cut taxes. If he can’t stomach copying George W. Bush, perhaps he could call it the “Clinton Rule.”

Death Count in Afghanistan

In a sane world where news reporters are objective, it would be newsworthy to note that there has been a significant increase in American deaths in Afghanistan since Obama took over the White House.  Unfortunately, we do not reside in such an environment.

I can't help but recall the constant barrage of casualty figures reported on a daily basis when Bush was president.  Now that their man is in charge, all of a sudden, the casualty reports have disappeared.  Amazing, isn't it?

Since the American Pravda won't tell you, I will.  The death figures have more than doubled under the golden boy.  Keep in mind that Bush was in office about twice as long as Obama since the war in Afghanistan did not start until the fall of 2001, so that is a staggering amount of deaths.

Of 2983 coalition deaths in the past 10 years, 1954 of the lost soldiers were from the United States.

How disturbing is this?  If Obama can't win another term legitimately, he'll resort to cheating.  Nothing shocking there.  I would expect no less from such a godless man.  But, what is frightening is that there are people in high places working to make such a scenario possible.  George Soros to be exact is the owner of a company in Spain which will be counting our votes in the November election.  No wonder Obama is acting so cocking about winning re-election.

Ladies and gentlemen, America is under more of a threat than we can even begin to imagine.  Once a radical like Obama takes power, he will NOT give it up willingly.

Insight Analysis: The Hard Left Revolution

I am very unsettled in my spirit, and it is not going away. I awake with it and feel it all day long. Even as I work on the blog and study the scriptures, the feeling is there. It is a sense of doom for America. It is as if a pall now hangs over the nation. Just as an Islamic Sunni caliphate is forming to destroy Israel, so a type of “caliphate” is forming to destroy America. This “caliphate is the uniting of all the groups that hate Israel, America and the God of Israel.

The incident in Florida with the shooting of Trayvon Martin is an example of what is coming. The professional black race baiters were out in force making it a racial issue without any proof it involved race. Obama and Holder were stirring up the racial trouble. As the trouble built, Obama remained silent. Holder sent agents of the Justice Department to help organize the protest! Holder even met with Al Sharpton, one of the leading race baiters. The media fell right in line. If Zimmerman is acquitted, there is no doubt that civil strife is going to erupt. The Black Panthers are already calling for violence and a revolution while nothing was said or done by Obama or Holder.

   At the heart of the Hard Left “caliphate” will be the professional black race baiters and whoever they can stir up for revolution. Joined with them will be the Occupy Wall Street crowd. Obama and other politicians have already endorsed this movement in spite of all the violence associated with it. The hardcore union people will be part of it. What the unions did last year at the Wisconsin capital will play out across the country. The Communists, anarchists, socialists and every Hard Leftist on college campuses will join. The Islamists will be part and bring in the anti-Jew and Israel flavor. No doubt that all the world’s troubles will be blamed on the Jews. This mob will become very anti Israel and Jew. Also merged will he the “open borders” people along with hardcore sodomites. Oh yes, spiritual support will come from the Hard Left in the pulpits. Look for support from the likes of Bill Ayers and George Soros.

Social media will get this going with massive rallies, probably like what we watched in Egypt. Obama and Holder will be right there with the Justice Department to arrest anyone who violates the rights of this mob. I see this mob having the same spirit and driving force as the mob behind the French Revolution. It is all falling into place. America is now left without prayer cover as the church is unable to stand up and is powerless. This mob will look for some rallying cry like the burning of the Reichstag which the Nazis used to take over Germany. The Leftists media will be right there to support them. The overturning of Obamacare could be a catalyst. The leaders of this “caliphate” are just waiting for the right issue to start the rebellion and civil war. Always remember, that in the past, when a mob like this formed, millions died. I believe that it is highly possible that the same is going to happen in America. These are ruthless people who will think nothing of killing those in the way of their takeover. The spiritual weakness of the church has created a spiritual vacuum which is now being filled with the French Revolution spirit.

Hitler could have been stopped prior to coming to power. Once he was in power, the events had to run their course. There is a time to stop evil, but when a line is crossed evil must run its course. The same is now happening to America. Once this revolution starts, it will not be stopped without great bloodshed. I will keep you posted on what is happening with this “caliphate” as it is now easy to follow. They are boldly promoting what they intend to do. Once the Hard Left initiates this revolution, I do not see America ever being the same. It will be interesting to see now this revolution plays into the election.

I am truly sorry to have to report such news, but what can I do but warn? The evidence of what is coming is flashing right before us. America from every angle is being set up for this revolution. I wish this would all just go away, but what is happening is reality. People that are evil to the core are now in motion in an attempt to destroy America. Sometimes it is so difficult to believe this is happening right before our eyes. Many Germans simply could not believe that Hitler and the Nazis were evil when the Nazis hid nothing from them. They could not see the war coming along with most of America. The Hard Left is real, and their hatred of God is REAL!

Sex with the Dead

That's right folks, a new law for those who follow the religion of peace.  I'm sorry, but these people are just plain sick.   Islam truly is right out of the pits of hell.

Egypt’s New Islamist-Led Parliament To Legalize Men Having Sex With Dead Wives For Up To Six Hours After Death, Allow Girls To Marry At 14-Years Old…

And it is Sharia compliant.

(Daily Mail) — Egyptian husbands will soon be legally allowed to have sex with their dead wives — for up to six hours after their death.
The controversial new law is part of a raft of measures being introduced by the Islamist-dominated parliament.
It will also see the minimum age of marriage lowered to 14 and the ridding of women’s rights of getting education and employment.
Egypt’s National Council for Women is campaigning against the changes, saying that ‘marginalising and undermining the status of women would negatively affect the country’s human development’.
Dr Mervat al-Talawi, head of the NCW, wrote to the Egyptian People’s Assembly Speaker Dr Saad al-Katatni addressing her concerns.
Egyptian journalist Amro Abdul Samea reported in the al-Ahram newspaper that Talawi complained about the legislations which are being introduced under ‘alleged religious interpretations’.
The subject of a husband having sex with his dead wife arose in May 2011 when Moroccan cleric Zamzami Abdul Bari said marriage remains valid even after death.
He also said that women have the right to have sex with her dead husband, alarabiya.net reported.

A Prayer for America

Dear God in Heaven,

Have mercy on America!  I know full well that we deserve another term with Barack Obama in the White House.  We have spit in your face with our actions.  We have openly defied your commands.  We have called evil "good" and good "evil".   Yet, we come before your throne and cry out in repentance for our sins, the sins of the Church (which in many cases has refused to take a stand for righteousness), and the sins of America.  You told Abraham that if there were ten righteous men that you would spare Sodom from destruction.  Now, we pray that if you can find one thousand righteous men and women in America who will cry out to you on behalf of our nation that you will save America from the radical forces which are overtaking us, heal our land, and return us back to the godly foundation of our Founding Fathers.

In Jesus' name we pray,

Obama the Tragedy

A second term for Barack Obama will be a tragedy.  His farcical first term barely hinted at the disaster awaiting America in Barack II.  Hobbled by a staggering lack of judgment and competence, and his ever-present reticence to make decisions that might impede his re-election, his first despicable term was a joke, despite a dearth of mirth.  If given four more years without worry of electoral reprisal, he will wreak havoc upon the nation in ways that Barack, back in Barack I, only dreamed of.

In 2008, Obama hoped the audacity of pretending to believe in America would propel him to the presidency, and he was right.  If re-elected, Barack Obama will finally have the luxury of being himself, and that is something that should terrify every American.

To detect the direction of Obama's next term, one need only examine select decisions from his first.  The deliberate demise of America's space program is one.  Any future triumph for NASA, because of its well-documented previous success, would have never been credited to Barack's brilliance.  And in America today, there is simply no room for any victory that does not belong solely to Barack Obama.  It had to go.  Sure, he routinely claims the success of others, but selling the space program as all-Barack would have been a stretch, even for the man who Michelle Obama has said "led us out of the darkness into the light." 

Defense is another example of what an Obama second term will look like.  After strangling bin Laden with his bare hands, and singlehandedly ending terror worldwide, and with the tide of war ebbing, he has come to the conclusion the nation doesn't need a defense.  Besides, no matter how much he spends, or how powerful our armed forces remain or become, he will never get credit, because the heroes of America's military are the men and woman who volunteer to stand on that wall, ever-vigilant, so that demagogues like Barack Obama can be successful, while despising them and the sacrifice they make for their country. 

The F-22 may be the most advanced fighter in the world, but how would Barack take credit for that?  Better to cancel it and spend the money winning a future "built to last."

Our president wants total control over government, to exercise total control over all the little people.  He knows what is best for them.  No expense is too great for the nation to realize Barack Obama's dream of saving people from too much freedom.  He'll spend any amount of money to remake the country in his own image, but he balks at spending money for the things government can actually do better, like space travel and defense. 

Calling four more years of Barack Obama a tragedy for America, and perhaps the world, may very well be an understatement.  Since his inauguration, every pronouncement, legislative action, executive order, or regulatory fiat has been a veritable disaster for the nation.  He has been so successful at being unsuccessful that it borders on hilarity...or is that Hillary?  Never mind...I digress. 

He once said "they talk about me like a dog."  With recent revelations, the nation should wonder what he meant...sorry, another digression.

His failures are legion, his miscues legendary.  History will see his first term as a running gag, with no one laughing, plenty of people gagging, and everyone running for his life.  The laugh is on us, because despite the unmitigated disaster of Obama's first term, there are still people who will vote for him.

Energy

An economy thrives in a low-cost energy environment.  Expensive energy costs the nation jobs and prosperity.  The "all of the above" energy policy of our president's execrable re-election campaign will become the "none of the above" policy of a second-term Obama.  Electricity bills will triple as our president allows the EPA to totally ravage the coal industry.  The goal is to eliminate those bituminous bits of black gold from electrical generation.  Coal now provides 45% of America's electricity...coming soon, zero percent. 

We can always replace coal with natural gas or nuclear power...but wait a minute.  Barack will never allow nuclear power with its zero emissions and inexpensive energy.  He can't abide that; the price of electricity must "necessarily skyrocket" for green to become the new black.  Nuclear energy is out.    

If re-elected, Obama will be faced with a choice to either allow fracking and further development of fossil fuels in America, and admit to the idiocy of flushing tens of billions of dollars down the green energy toilet, or ban it by regulatory fiat, raising energy prices to the point where green boondoggles can compete.

Obama will never admit that any decision he made was wrong.  Look for him to take option 2.  After all, if re-elected, he will have more "flexibility."

After the election, the EPA will, suddenly and shockingly, find that fracking endangers water supplies, or something or other, and impose regulations that will cause the natural gas industry to go in the same direction as coal. 

The first step was taken Friday, April 13.  It was a typical Friday Obama dump.  When no one was looking, Obama issued an executive order establishing a task force, which is to ensure drilling techniques such as fracking are "safe and responsible."  In other words, he put his best team on it.  Americans should know where this is headed.  Natural gas is out.

Under "Energy President" Obama, annual revenue to the U.S. Treasury from offshore oil lease sales has plummeted more than $9 billion since 2008, to less than $37 million in 2011.  In government today, $37 million is a rounding error.  This should tell the nation all it needs to know about Obama's future plans for oil in America.  Oil is out.

The president does not want the nation to exploit its fossil fuel resources.  Ten-dollar-a-gallon gasoline will not affect the lives of Barack and family.  The person working two jobs to pay rent and put food on the table, however, will be devastated.    

In the age of Barack II, no one will be driving -- gasoline will be beyond most citizens' budgets.  No one will be reading or writing dissent by lamplight late at night -- electricity will be too expensive.  We will be relegated to freezing in our homes, lights off, praying for 01/20/17 and an end to the "Obama-nation." 

To sum up, in Barack II, he will cut out coal and oil, diminish natural gas, and forbid nuclear power.  Electric bills will skyrocket, and the nation will face rolling blackouts.  Gasoline will become even more unaffordable than it is already. 

The double-whammy of high transportation and energy costs will tank the economy, and jobs will become even scarcer than they are already.  In short, we will have been fundamentally transformed into a third-world country. 

It's coming, but like everything for Barack, it's scheduled for...again...after the election.  And all this, he will do by himself.  Because when you are transformative, you don't have to abide by the Constitution, separation of powers, checks and balances, and judicial review.  Executive fiat will be sufficient.  All he needs is another term.

The president says we should vote for him, because only a few have prospered while many have struggled.  He has a point.  After all, the man has spent three and a half years doing everything in his power to make this a reality. 

This article covers just a few topics.  The president has equally disastrous plans for international affairs, race relations, government ubiquity, union primacy, guns, taxes, health care, and the judiciary.  Every single aspect of American life will be affected in Barack II. 

The theme of Obama's re-election campaign is "We can't wait."  If Barack Obama is re-elected, Americans will soon long for the misery of "hope and change."
