What They Don't Tell Women About Abortion

The harm done to an innocent baby in an abortion is a no-brainer, but the evidence is mounting concerning the emotional damage to the woman.

"A pro-family advocacy group thinks women should know about new research that shows abortion is harmful to their mental health.

The new study was published in The British Journal of Psychiatry, a resource that Jeanne Monahan of the Family Research Council (FRC) considers reputable.

'It showed that 81 percent of women who have had an abortion have an increased risk for mental health,' she reports. 'This would include depression, alcohol abuse, suicidal behaviors, and other things as well. It takes into account 22 studies and over 877,000 women, and it spans 14 years.'

So she believes the unbiased, exhaustive research should serve to benefit doctors in providing a good synthesis of the impact of abortion. 'But moreover, it's really important that women are told this information,' Monahan contends. 'You know, they have a right to informed consent before they choose an abortion, and they have a right to know that choosing an abortion not only takes the life of their baby, but it's going to cause them much emotional harm in most cases.'

Monahan believes people can stand on the latest research because of its thoroughness and authenticity, and she predicts the next step is for Congress to consider passing a federal women's right-to-know act to ensure they are informed of the risks prior to making a decision."


"A federal women's right-to-know act". Sounds wonderful! I can see feminists and other liberals frothing at the mouth over such a legislation. But, obviously such a move must wait until Obama gets booted out of office and Congress falls back into the hands of the GOP. Can't come soon enough!!
