We Are Our Own Worst Enemy

Where's the ACLU when you need them? Nowhere to be found. If the following story was about funding Christian churches instead of Islamic mosques, there would be a huge outcry. But, since it's the "pet religion" of the left, Islam, the ACLU yawns.

Read from Gateway Pundit:

US TAXPAYERS ARE FUNDING MOSQUE CONSTRUCTION

"What ever happened to the separation of church and state the left has been screaming about?
The US government has been funding mosque construction.
But won’t allow the 10 Commandments in a court house.
The American Thinker reported:

'Truth, even in the tightly controlled prison of the Obama media complex, occasionally bursts forth like a swordfish cavorting on the waves of a golden August afternoon.

Newsweek, the Washington Post’s former progressive stepchild, published an op-ed by Fareed Zakaria, the in-house lapdog for the Administration, extolling the virtues of building the Ground Zero Mosque. A couple of sentences demand a great deal more explanation.

"To that end, early in its tenure the Bush administration began a serious effort to seek out and support moderate Islam. Since then, Washington has funded mosques, schools, institutes, and community centers that are trying to modernize Islam around the world.

We should be encouraging groups like the one behind this project, not demonizing them. Were this mosque being built in a foreign city, chances are that the U.S. government would be funding it
."'"

Just what we can afford in our current economic crisis. We are our own worst enemy."

More paranoia about Islam..... and, as is often the case, it comes from Ms. MoreLies, someone who apparently can't read, or someone who can read but purposely twists the meaning of what's read.

First off, Fareed Zakaria has no connection whatsoever to the Obama administration. He's not a spokesperson, and he's not employed by the administration.

That said, take a look at what Zakaria actually said, Ms. MoreLies:

1. This program, whatever it is, began early in the Bush administration.

2. Zakaria clearly says "WERE this mosque being built in a foreign city, chances are that the U.S. government would be funding it."

Now, think about that for more than a millisecond. On your own. (Go ahead, I'll wait until your brain cells finally get started.)

Is "this mosque" being built in a foreign city? No. It's being built in NYC.

So what does that mean about the U.S. government paying for it? Well, it probably means that the federal government is NOT paying for this mosque. Or, at the very least, there is no indication WHATSOEVER in the words used by Zakaria that there's any federal funding.

So what does our local rightwingnut blogger Ms.MoreLies conclude?

"We are funding mosques on American soil."

There is NOTHING that would support that assertion whatsoever.

It's a lie. And it's a blatantly stupid lie.

But it's par for the course for Ms MoreLies.

Who said anything about Obama? I certainly didn't. This goes well beyond him.

As to the mosque funding, I never said that we were funding the one to be built at Ground Zero. The funding of that mosque is most likely coming from the likes of Saudi Arabia and other such countries. I believe the imam is currently on a Middle Eastern tour, probably raising funds for his venture.

You're the one who is becoming paranoid, Diogenes. It's time for your wife to put you to bed for the night.

Your clear statement, Ms.MoreLie, was this:

"We are funding mosques on American soil."

Maybe I was in error, but I thought that meant that we are funding mosques on American soil.

And nothing in your entire post would support that assertion. In fact, with a little critical thinking (just a little; wouldn't want you to strain your narrow-minded little brain) just the OPPOSITE may be true, since Zakaria said that IF the mosque were being built on foreign soil, the U.S. government may have been helping to fund it.

As for the Obama tie-ins, do you not read the stuff you cut & paste? Twice in the first two sentences, the rightwingnut blogger tried to tie this to the Obama adminstration. You re-printed it without comment, which implies that you agree with his assertion.

Good gosh almighty, am I the only one who actually READS the drivel you spawn?

Actually, it's not a lie, but I am guilty of not reading the article closely enough. For that, I apologize.

You are right in that our funding of mosques is overseas. But, my attack wasn't aimed at Obama alone. I am angry at Bush as well.

DiogenASS: State Department officials on Monday confirmed Feisal Abdul Rauf, the Imam of the so-called Ground Zero Mosque, will soon be going on a trip of the Middle East and the U.S. taxpayers will be picking up the tab.

This is Ă˜bama state department, isn't it?

The State Department has not yet divulged a detailed itinerary of Rauf’s trip, although Arab media is reporting he will visit the oil rich states of Saudi Arabia, The United Arab Emirates and Abu Dhabi.

“It is to foster greater understanding and outreach around the world, among… Muslim- majority communities,” said Crowley. “We've done this many, many times, with many leading figures… over the past few years

Hmmmm, doesn't this Imam need 100 million dollars to build the mosque?

Why this particular Imam?

How convenient that they would send him right after he gets the OK to build the mosque.

why now? why not before the mosque got approval?

It sure looks like this administration is using this outreach for the Imam's fundraising tour.

This administration may not be funding this mosque directly, but I would guess if this Imam mysteriously comes up with 100 million for the mosque after his return, It will be the results of this phony outreach mission.

One-way seperation of church and state.

If Bush had done something like this, the leftwing propaganda machine would have called for Bush’s impeachment.

Ignorance is not a defense.

If it was, you'd always be exonerating yourself.
