It's off-base to compare our current military engagements with World War II. In WWII, there were a set of nation-states at war with another set of nation-states. Each had conventional armies that regularly engaged one another in battle.
In the war on terror, the enemy isn't a nation-state, it's an ideology. They don't have massive armies; they have small cells of terrorists. They come and go "under the radar". It's like fighting a ghost, or shadow-boxing.
NO ONE has ever been successful fighting a land war in Afghanistan, even when fighting the native Afghans. Fighting an enemy that jumps back and forth across the Afghan-Pakistan border should be takenunder advisement.
Al Qaeda is virtually gone from Afghanistan, and that was supposed to be who we were fighting. Now you Religious Rightwingnuts are trying to turn this from a war against terrorists (Al Qaeda) into a holy war against the Taliban. While the Taliban certainly aren't our friends, we HAVE to ask if they're an enemy worth fighting at this juncture.
Every time a rightwingnut says we need a victory in Afghanistan, I ask "What's a victory LOOK LIKE?" And no one has ever answered that question.
It's desperately important for us to answer two questions:
1. What are we hoping to achieve? 2. How much are we willing to spend, in blood and money, to achieve it?
The Lord has placed a strong burden on my heart for the nation of Israel and the Jewish people. The anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism throughout the world is growing rampantly, and the public is not being told the truth about Israel.
At the same time, Islam is an enormous threat to the West, and because of political correctness, most will not address its dangers. In all honesty, the Hard Left and Islam have united and are using one another because they both share the same hatred for America, Israel, and Christianity. As Christians, we must hate Islam, but not have hate in our hearts for Muslims. They are totally deceived by an evil religion which has them bound by its lies, hatred, and intolerance. We must also remember that most Muslims were born into their evil religion and know nothing else. Jesus has love in His heart for the Muslim people, so He expects the same from us.
