What a difference a year and a half makes. I remember vividly Christmas shopping in 2008 and seeing all the Obama paraphernalia for sale throughout the malls. America was in worship mode, and to be perfectly honest, it was nauseating to watch.
Now, a mere 19 months later, the puppy love has worn off. Americans are dejected; their president has not lived up to his image as "savior of the nation". They are watching as our president moves us deeper and deeper in debt, destroys jobs, intensifies racial strife, and ignores the wishes of those who elected him.
Americans are abandoning Obama in large numbers. While blacks are still smitten, approval from whites is at a shockingly low 38%.
Read from Big Government:
Father of the Bride Part II: The Obama Honeymoon is Over!
by Craig DeLuz
"When President [Barack] Obama was inaugurated back in 2008, I wrote a piece called 'Father of the Bride: My View of the Inauguration of [Barack] Obama' in which I liked my feelings to that of a father who’s daughter was about to marry a man of whom he did not approve. Well now the honeymoon is over and it is time to say, 'I told you so!'
The new addition to our family has inserted himself all up in family business where he doesn’t belong. The smooth talking suitor who claimed to bring unity to the family, has not only created massive divisions within the family, but has offended long time family friends while at the same time reaching out to those who would do our family harm. And to top it all off he has up all the credit cards, mortgaged the family house and now expects all of us to foot the bill.
I wish I could say that I didn’t see this coming. But all the signs were there. But like a blushing young bride, head over heals in love America couldn’t see [past] Obama’s handsome smile and enticing promises.
Think about it! A man who had never led anything in his life was all of a sudden going to lead the greatest nation on earth? A man who believed in spreading other people’s wealth was now going to help Americans be able to actually create their own wealth? And a man listened as his pastor preached divisiveness to him for 20 years and didn’t say a word was going to help us bridge the divide of relations in America? I think not!
Now I realize that as young brides often do, there is a contingent of the American people who, despite his abysmal record are holding on to the hope that he will become the man he once claimed to be. They will exclaim: 'But he loves me!' 'He would never do anything to hurt me.' 'It wasn’t his fault.'
All the while, he continues to head down a path of destruction asking us to trust him. Well I can’t do it. I’ve seen where he’s taking us. And while his intentions may be good, the results will clearly be bad.
The time has come to accept that to date, this marriage is not working out. And if things don’t change pretty darn quick, divorce is inevitable. In face, he should consider the 2010 General Election as official notice to shape up or ship out!"

Man, you rightwingnuts are getting more and more bizarre with your goofy analogies. More and more of you are clearly "round the bend" heading to the big house on the hill with the rubber rooms!
I hope we'll share a room because if you can't see the trainwreck we're headed for, then you are certainly crazy.
You must be looking in the rearview mirror at the trainwreck that Georgie had some time ago.
You know, when he and the Republicans approved Medicare prescription benefits without paying for it?
When Georgie cut taxes for his rich oil bidness buddies, so it would keep our economy healthy? That's how Georgie turned a budget surplus into the biggest budget deficit ever, in eight short years.
When Georgie started two wars, and the Republicans never included those monies in the budget and never paid for them? (One of the reasons why the deficits in the Obama budgets are so large is because Obama is insisting that the war costs be included in the budget, so that they're more realistic estimations of our costs.)
Obama has it right: the Republicans drove us into the ditch and, now that we've pulled the car out of that ditch, the Republicans want the keys back.
I'm with you on Bush's extravagant spending. Even though he is a Republican, he is a progressive and supported big govt. The No Child Left Behind should never have been passed. Education should be left to the states; there's far too much bureaucracy and administrative positions in our schools. I also oppose the Dept of Homeland Security; I don't think that was necessary. And I object to the prescription drug program. Entitlements is what is killing us.
The tax cuts helped our economy and brought more revenues into the Treasury. The deficit was growing smaller and smaller until Pelosi and Reid took over in 2007.
As to the Clinton surplus, that was on the back of the military, and 9/11 was a result of Clinton's weak foreign policy. So we see where that got us.
Nevertheless, Obama has increased our debt so much that we will never get out of it. It will break the back of this nation.
You have a rightwingnut "answer" for everything, don't you?
"As to the Clinton surplus, that was on the back of the military..." Really? "On the back of the military"in what way? Because Clinton didn't start two major (unpaid) wars?
"I also oppose the Dept of Homeland Security; I don't think that was necessary." Holy crap! If I or any other "liberal" said that, we'd be attacked ad nauseum! What, are you in favor of terrorism? Do you want to maintain a balanced budget by keeping our citizens unsafe and insecure? You would prefer the old intelligence system, which had dozens of different uncoordinated intelligence agencies trying to keep us safe?
"No Child Left Behind should never have been passed." You want children being left behind? You want teachers to escape accountability? You want the status quo?
Clinton cut our military and harmed our intel abilties which led to 9/11.
Of course, I oppose terrorism, but I don't think we needed a new dept. We just needed to clean up the lack of communication between our different agencies.
I want education left to the states.
Not only should you and your kind not be given an opportunity to control our government.... but your silly simplistic view of life makes one wonder if you're capable of controlling your own existence.
Do you have enough active brain cells to control your autonomic functions?
