Judging from what is seen on the video, the congressman was wrong and probably should have charges filed against him. But claiming that he "beat up college kid" is just a tad over the top. Although it doesn't condone his behavior in the least, what is seen doesn't constitute more than a misdemeanor, and it does make one wonder what WASN'T shown in the video. The congressman's actions seem too extreme for a one-time chance encounter on a public sidewalk.
And, of course, how could we expect a rightwingnut blog like Gutless Smirks to avoid hyperbole like "goosestepping fascists"?
The Democrats didn't "seize" the country. They were elected to office, because the majority of Americans believe that they better represent America than do rightwingnuts. And they still do.
And after the Patriot Act, the invasion of Iraq, Gitmo, Abu Ghraib, waterboarding, etc etc etc it's downright comical for rightwingnuts to whine about "ripping our constitution to shreds." It was pretty well tattered as Bush-Cheney left office.
