Since we are now discussing 9/11, perhaps I should mention how George W. Bush, whom I've had issues with, stepped up to the plate after that horrific attack and showed true leadership, uniting this country against a fierce enemy, something Barack Obama could only dream of doing.
BTW, if the oil spill resembles 9/11, maybe, just maybe, Obama should show more respect for the suffering by refraining from spending so much time playing golf and vacationing. I don't remember Bush with a golf club in his hand after 9/11. It's about perception, Mr. President. When you are seen leisurely playing sports in the midst of a crisis, it looks like you don't care.

What this is all about comes down to the fact that Obama's poor performance is being compared to Bush during Hurricane Katrina. He wants to change the subject.

Obama Compares Oil Spill to 9/11 – Update – Squeezes in Another Round of Golf
By Lonely Conservative
"President Obama’s probably sick of hearing how the BP Gulf oil gush is worse than Katrina. So he did the unthinkable – he compared it to 9/11. As if an accident and resulting disaster, to which his response was abysmal, in any way compares to an act of war committed by violent jihadists.
Politico: 'Obama — facing mounting criticism of his handling of the BP gusher, even from longtime allies — vowed to make a “bold” push for a new energy law even as the calamity continues to unfold. And he said he will use the rest of his presidency to try to put the United States on a course toward a “new way of doing business when it comes to energy.”
“In the same way that our view of our vulnerabilities and our foreign policy was shaped profoundly by 9/11,” the president said in an Oval Office interview on Friday, “I think this disaster is going to shape how we think about the environment and energy for many years to come.”'
The article goes on to explain that Obama’s going to use his bully pulpit and this disaster to get Democrats elected this fall. This isn’t about getting the Gulf cleaned up. As is the norm with this guy, it’s all about cementing his power."
"..a 'new way of doing business when it comes to energy'" Code for the job-killing Cap and Trade or whatever new name these libs have assigned to this piece of legislation. Hold on to your wallets because this will cost you dearly.
Party of compassion, indeed. How compassionate is it to rob Americans of more money for energy use? Prepare for a lower standard of living. Just what we need during these dark financial times.

He didn't equate 9-11 to the Gulf spill. READ for a change. What he said was that, just as 9-11 fashioned our foreign policy, the Gulf spill may fashion our environmental policy. It's called an "analogy", Ms. MoreLies. Look it up. Your kids may benefit from understanding what an analogy is, if and when they ever take a college admissions test.
And as for the latest rightwingnut talking point that the BP spill is nothing more than an "accident", think again. BP ignored safety. BP tried a shortcut (to speed things along and make more money) that Transocean warned them against, and the rig blew:
"The morning the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded, a BP executive and a Transocean official argued over how to proceed with the drilling, rig survivors told CNN's Anderson Cooper in an exclusive interview. The survivors' account paints perhaps the most detailed picture yet of what happened on the deepwater rig -- and the possible causes of the April 20 explosion. The BP official wanted workers to replace heavy mud, used to keep the well's pressure down, with lighter seawater to help speed a process that was costing an estimated $750,000 a day and was already running five weeks late, rig survivors told CNN. BP won the argument, said Doug Brown, the rig's chief mechanic. 'He basically said, 'Well, this is how it's gonna be.' .... In the CNN interviews, the workers described a corporate culture of cutting staff and ignoring warning signs ahead of the blast. They said BP routinely cut corners and pushed ahead despite concerns about safety."

That's no accident. That's gross negligence on BP's part.
You are right in that it was gross negligence. Nevertheless, it was not intentional.
Gross negligence is a half-step away from intentionality under the law. So, if you want to continue to quibble, please do so, but this was no "innocent" accident in the Gulf.
George Bush united this country because the country was willing to BE united after 9-11. I was one of those that supported Bush; I voted for him in 2000 and I put aside any misgivings I had about him after 9-11... right up until he lied tojustify his invasion of Iraq.
Can you honestly say that there was a single moment that you EVER gave President Obama the benefit of the doubt and even a chance to lead this country? The answwer is clearly "NO". You rightwingnuts were single-minded in your intent to harass this guy from Day One.
And that's your right as an American. But don't be so disingenuous as to suggest that Obama's a lousy dance partner, when you won't get off your chair and get onto the dance floor. It takes two to tango, and you're gonna sit out the whole eight years, whining and moaning all the while.
Sorry, Diogenes, that's an unfair comparison. Of course, you were gentle on Bush in the early days; you voted for the man.
Now, it's my turn to accuse you of lying. You have every right to oppose the Iraq war. But, YOU are lying through your teeth when you say Bush lied about WMD. That may be the liberal talking points, but the fact is that our intel, as well as that of other nations, said that Saddam had WMD. Just because the media has rewritten history on this subject does not change the truth.
What Bush (really, Cheney, because Bush isn't that smart) released to the public indicated that Saddam may have had WMDs. But Cheney/Rumsfeld cooked the books, for sure. They knew that they were dealing with outdated discredited intel. Colin Powell used it at the UN, and when he quit in disgust, he explained how he and the rest of us had been played by the Bush administration.
Besides, I wasn't even referring to the no WMD issue when I said Bush lied. Bush and Cheney intentionally led stupid non-alert Americans (read: rightwingnuts) to believe that Saddam and Iraq was behind the whole 9-11 attack. You would have no idea at the number of kids I get in my classroom who have been told that Iraq "caused" 9-11. Now where would thye get that idea from? Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld conned their parents, and their parents conned them.
Just another reason why homeskooling isn't a great idea.
But notice: you've completely avoided commenting on the fact that you have never and will never give this President a chance to "unite the country".
BTW, while I voted for Bush, I started to get an idea of my mistake when he and his cronies used the U.S. Supreme Court to steal the election. Yeah, I voted for me, and when he screwed with the American legal system before he even got sworn into office, I had seen enough. His nonsensical No Child Left Behind legislation firmly put me against his rightwingnut agenda. But, come 9-11, I backed him as every American should.
But, if you're not willing to give it a shot, you can't criticize your opponent for not being bipartisan. It takes two to tango. And when the Party of No says "no" then the dance is over, by definition.
There's a huge problem with your argument. Obama is NOT trying to unite the country. If he reached out to conservatives, I would be somewhat open. I fully supported his troop surge in Afghanistan, keeping the fight in Iraq, and am a big supporter of the drone activity in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
It's difficult to support a man who does not have the best interests for my country and who is intentionally sabotaging our economy.
DiogenASS: Bush-Cheney Cheney-Bush Bush-Cheney Cheney-Bush Bush-Cheney Cheney-Bush Bush-Cheney Cheney-Bush Bush-Cheney Cheney-Bush Bush-Cheney Cheney-Bush?
Blah Blah-blah Blah-blah, what the freggin hell is wrong with you?
Are you so blinded by hate for anybody that's not a mindless leftwingloon that you can't understand that Bush-Cheney are not in charge of the country and the blame game isn't working anymore?
Obama owns it,so get over it!
Ms. MoreLies brought up the issue of Georgie Porgie in her original post, AnonyMouse, so if you don't like hearng anything more about that particular village idiot (and I can commiserate with you on that one; I wouldn't want to talk about Bush, either, if I were still a Republican) take it up with our hostess.
DiogenASS: I'm an Independent ass-wipe!
If anybody is a village idiot, it's your leftwing activist/organizer obama with no executive or management experience, he sat in Rev. Wrights church for 20 years and never heard the preachers ant-American, anti-white message, yet obama claims he was one of his mentors.
You must consider that he is either a liar, dumb or just doesn’t pay attention.
Dio, please don’t give us that law review crap again without any sources of proof!
The invisible man without any documentation of his past, how dumb are the obama voters/supporters?
Voting for a bumper sticker of “hope & change” without any documentation of his actual accomplishments is ludicrous.
John Wooden: "Never mistake activity for achievement."
Finally, we find something we can agree on, AnonyMouse! I wholeheartedly support you when you say of yourself "I'm an Independent ass-wipe!"
As for the rest of your whine, get over yourself, please. Your insistence on "proof" is ridiculous. I didn't go to Harvard Law with the man, but if I Google online, I can find plenty of references to his presidency of the Law Review and receiving a law degree, magna cum laude. But, personally, the closest I've ever been to the man was about 100 feet away. I can't vouch personally for him... but plenty of others have.
And, face it: even if his diploma and transcript were posted online, you'd simply dismiss it as a forgery -- just like you birthers do with his birth certificate. The fact of the matter is that you people are disgruntled mental midgets who simply don't like the guy, so there IS no satisfying you!
Would I have preferred Obama having more extensive experience before he was elected President? Yes. But we didn't have that luxury. When faced with a Republican ticket like John McCain and, worse yet, Sarah Smiles, almost ANYBODY would have been preferable. On the Democratic side, the choice was Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Clinton had age on her side, but not experience; being First Lady doesn't qualify as experience for the presidency. So, yes, I preferred Obama to Clinton.
Barack Obama was, and is, the right guy and the right place at the right time. He's not the ideal President, if there even is such a thing. He's just a helluva lot better than any of the alternatives we had in 2008.
But before you go back into attack mode again, AnonyMouse, please remember that I started this comment out by agreeing with you: you ARE,indeed, an Independent ass-wipe!
