This will make for great political ads for this fall. Welcome to an Obama nation where sex offenders pleasures come at our expense. Try defending this one, Diogenes.
From Politico:
Dems reject amendment to ban Viagra for sex offenders
"Democrats killed an amendment by Republican Sen. Tom Coburn to prevent the newly created insurance exchanges from using federal money to cover Viagra and other erectile dysfunction drugs for rapists, pedophiles and other sex offenders. The amendment failed 57-42
'The vast majority of Americans don't want their taxpayer dollars paying for this kind of drug for those kind of people,' Coburn said.
Democratic Sen. Max Baucus urged his colleagues to defeat the amendment.
'This is a serious bill. This is a serious debate. The amendment offered by the senator from Oklahoma makes a mockery of the Senate, the debate and the American people. It is not a serious amendment. It is a crass political stunt aimed at making 30-second commercials, not public policy,' he said.
Democrats have defeated every amendment offered by Republicans so far, arguing that any change will kill the bill."
Shameful! These people do not represent mainstream America.

Baucus is correct and I can only hope that the RNC takes full advantage of the opportunity to showcase this and all the other garbage shoved into this craptastic "Reform"
Defend it? YOU BET! This was the cheapest of cheap stunts pulled by Coburn -- and that's going some!
Where was Coburn's heartfelt, well-reasoned amendment when the bill was first debated? Answer: NOWHERE. It's not a serious suggestion. Coburn did this only to try to embarass the Democrats, as he knew they couldn't really vote for ANY amendment, at this point, without further complicating the process.
Once it's cleared all the hurdles and it's a done deal, let Coburn reintroduce his amendment then, and see what happens. But guess what? He won't do it, because the little game that the Republicans were playing will be over.
The only thing that surprises me is that even YOU would be stupid enough (or dishonest enough) to fall for his charade.
And, by the way, you've taken the lie one step beyond COburn, even. The vote was not to give Viagra to sex offenders. The vote was to not prohibit sex offenders from obtaining ED drugs from the new insurance exchanges. There is a difference there, but since you can't understand the whole abortion non-issue, it's too much to hope that you would get this one correct.
So which is it, Ms. ML? Are you that stupid, or are you that dishonest? Or both? Just curious.
LMAO Uhhhh AnonyMouse? Do you understand what you read? Max Baucus is a Democrat who basically said the Republican "amendments" were a load of crap... and you said he is "correct".
Then you turn around and tell the RNC (which I assume you know means the REPUBLICAN National Commmittee, right?) to take full advantage of all the "garbage shoved into this craptastic 'Reform'."
Tell you what: take a deep breath, gofind a quiet corner, and try to figure it all out. Then get back to us with what you meant to say... because what you said certainly can't be it!
DiogenASS: Don't get your panties all twisted up.
I think what anonymous was trying to say is that if the democrats want to give their support to sex offenders, so be it.
And that the RNC will take full advantage of their actions up until election time.
that could be what they meant, I don't know.
All I can say is thank you democrats for giving Americans a look into the democrat party’s real agenda for America.
The American People aren't too crazy about a European style socialist form of government.
Your dumb-ass will find that out in November when Real Americans send the democrats packing!
Yeah yeah yeah.... more hot air from AnonyMouse. I bet you were predicting similar results in the election of 2008, weren't you? You might as well stay with it, you're almost bound to be right sooner or later! (Much later, probably.)
Ms. ML, I'm still curious:
Were you lying, or were you just that stupid?
Inquiring minds want to know!
No lying. The fact of the matter is that sex offenders will receive Viagra, and we will pay for it, thanks to the Democrats who refused to stop it.
OK, you weren't lying, you proved it. That's the good news, I guess, from your perspective.
But your "argument" that we will pay for Viagra for sex offenders? Among other inaccuracies, extending health insurance coverage to peope through the insurance exchanges desn't mean that they're getting insurance coverage for free. Most people will PAY for that coverage... but that undercuts your whole screwy anti-welfare argument, doesn't it?
So, the bad news: you've proven, once again, that you really ARE just that stupid. (As if we doubted it for a minute.)
