Elton John: Jesus 'Super-Intelligent Gay Man'
"Pop legend Elton John is making waves again -- this time over remarks he made in a magazine interview, saying that Jesus Christ was a 'super-intelligent gay man,' causing fury among conservative Christians.
In an interview with U.S. magazine, Parade, the 62-year-old musician said, 'I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems.
'On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don't know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the Middle East - you're as good as dead.'
The remarks are provoking more ire within Christian groups and denominations amid debate over consecrating gay members of the clergy in the U.S., a topic so sensitive that bishops are considering breaking away from the Anglican church in the U.S. over the matter."
He's right about the dangers of being gay in the Middle East, and he is absolutely correct when he describes Jesus's love and forgiveness.
Other than that, Elton John is nuts. Are we supposed to actually believe that because Jesus never married, that he was gay? That's insane! Jesus came to save the world from its sins, not to experience romance. Talk about twisted theology.

Let's compare and contrast world religion responses, shall we? I have read no news reports whatsoever of roving bands of conservative (or any type for that matter) Christians tipping cars and burning buildings in angry respose. Furthermore, no one will die anywhere because of this outrageous comment. If Elton had said the same things about Mohammed, fires would already be fully underway including his house, the body count would be in the hundreds, and a fatwa would be issued for his life.
