A potentially disastrous terror attack was thwarted on Christmas Day, thanks to the valiant efforts of a Dutch man who tackled a Nigerian terrorist who was attempting to blow up a plane right before landing in Detroit.
My hats off to the terrorist's father who turned his son in to the American embassy in Nigeria for his terrorist connections. That's the type of action we all want to see from peace-loving Muslims. Way to go! And try for a moment to imagine how difficult that was for the prominent Nigerian banker to turn in his own son. A broken-hearted man worthy of praise.

And what about you, Janet Napolitano? Not doing your job effectively, either. Of course, Janet is too busy tracking down us right-wing extremists. No time for the real terrorists during this age of, what are they called, "overseas contingency operations", or whatever the latest term for Islamic terrorism. Sorry, libs, I call it as I see it. No loony terms to lessen its horror.

'Schuringa said he heard a sound that reminded him of a firecracker and someone yelling, “Fire! Fire!”
He saw Abdulmutallab’s pants open and he was holding a burning object between his legs.
“I pulled the object from him and tried to extinguish the fire with my hands and threw it away,” Schuringa said.
He said he then screamed for water and pulled Abdulmutallab out of his seat and dragged him to the front of the plane.'

Here's the TRUE story of the new sit-during-the-last-hour rule:

For anyone with even HALF a brain, it's obvious that the new rule is intended to keep would-be terrorists from getting into their carry-on bag to retrieve some sort of explosive device or weapon. It's obvioulsy NOT intended to keep would-be rescuers seated.
And, for the record, exactly what could Hillary Clinton and the State Dept. and/or Janet Napolitano and HHS do to keep someone off an international flight from Nigeria to Detroit, via the Netherlands? Th eplane never was on the ground in the U.S. for U.S. authorities to take any action!
But you're correct about Napolitano and HHS not doing a good enough job in tracking down rightwingnut extremists. If they were, then maybe Dr. Tiller wouldn't have been shot down in his church by Scott Roeder, and that poor guard at the Holocaust Museum, Stephen Johns, may not have been gunned down by that white supremacist James von Brunn.

But, to say that Hillary and Janet Napolitano are blameless is ludicrous. It was the State Dept.'s responsibility, as well as DHS's, to take this warning seriously from the terrorist's father. The terrorist should have been on a "no-fly" list. The Brits wouldn't let him in their country. How come they are on top of this matter and we were not?

James von Brunn professed to be a Christian. Whether or not he met your or my standards is immaterial. There are plenty of Muslims who would say that the extremist jihadist element isn't truly "Muslim" either.
Besides, the issue isn't whether or not von Brunn is a Christian; the issue is whether or not he's a rightwing extremist. THAT he clearly is.
As for whether o rnot this guy should have been on a "no fly" list, it's easy to say in hindsight that he should have been. But there are over 4000 names on that list now. If you had your way, you'd put every Muslim in the world on the list, but where would that get us? He was on a "watch" list, but US authorities felt that there wasn't enough data to put him on the "no fly" list.
Britain didn't ban him because of fears of terrorism; they banned him because he falsely claimed he was an active student at a British university. And apparently our embassy in London gave him a visa to enter the US back in 2008, and he came here twice since then without incident.

Sorry, but I don't necessarily agree that he should have been on a no-fly list. Sure, in retrospect, and I understand (politically) why Obama did the mea cupa, but I don't know if it's correct or not. A big deal has been made about this guy's father "turning him in" but when I heard that, I wondered how many false leads like this may be out there. I'm in no position to judge that, you aren't, and quite frankly I question whether Obama is. I know cops get all sorts of reports coming out of domestic situations; some get treated seriously, some get written off as intra-family squabbling.
