Liberalism and Islam

I find it rather ironic that the biggest cheerleaders for women's rights, Islam, and homosexuality in this country are on the Left. What they seem to disregard is the fact that female equality and homosexuality are NOT compatible with Islam.

In Islam, women are treated as property and don't have equal rights with men. In Saudi Arabia, they are not even permitted to drive, and they must be escorted by a male member of their family before they can be seen in public. Oh, and let's not forget that many Muslim women are forced to share their husbands with three other wives because Islam permits a man to have up to four wives. The physical beating of women is encouraged in the Muslim world, as well. Not a particularly appealing life for a female, is it?

Add to all these negatives, the garb these Islamic women wear, which isn't exacly appealing to feminists, either. Where's the outrage over the fact that in some Muslim countries, women don't dare show as much as an ankle or an arm? How would these defenders of females like to be dressed in this horrible attire? And isn't it interesting that while the men get to clothe themselves in white robes so as to keep cool in the hot climate of the Arab world, the poor women are forced to wear black? Why is that? The silence to the plight of women in Islam by Western feminists is deplorable.

Regarding the gay lifestyle, Muslims believe that homosexuals should be killed. How can liberals ignore and excuse this harsh, radical belief?

Yes, as a Christian, I oppose homosexuality because God opposes it. But, to kill or even harm someone because he or she is gay is unacceptable. Gays are deceived and need to be shown love and compassion, though their sexual behavior should never be condoned. As in every other sin, Christ is the answer. In His mercy, He has delivered many people from the homosexual lifestyle and is eager to do so again and again.

In case you question what I said about Muslim women's lack of rights, Islamic law, and its penalty for homosexuality, read and take a listen to what American Muslims had to say, via Act for America:

Muslim Day on Capitol Hill

"Back on September 25th, a few thousand Muslims gathered on Capitol Hill, a number well short of the 50,000 the event planners were shooting for and hoping for.

An ACT! for America team, led by two of our Florida chapter leaders, was on hand for the event, and was able to interview a number of the Muslims who attended.

•In one case, the discussion centered around whether or not homosexuals should be put to death under shariah law. Care to guess what the Muslim’s position was?

•In a second instance, our team captured some very revealing video about the place of women in Islam.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth 10,000."
