Americans are beginning to realize that our commander-in-chief is AWOL when it comes to our national security.

From Politico, via Hot Air:
Dick Cheney: Barack Obama 'trying to pretend'
"Former Vice President Dick Cheney accused President Barack Obama on Tuesday of 'trying to pretend we are not at war' with terrorists, pointing to the White House response to the attempted sky bombing as reflecting a pattern that includes banishing the term 'war on terror' and attempting to close the Guantanamo Bay detention center.
'[W]e are at war and when President Obama pretends we aren’t, it makes us less safe,' Cheney said in a statement to POLITICO. 'Why doesn’t he want to admit we’re at war? It doesn’t fit with the view of the world he brought with him to the Oval Office. It doesn’t fit with what seems to be the goal of his presidency — social transformation — the restructuring of American society.'
(.....)
Here is Cheney’s full statement:
'As I’ve watched the events of the last few days it is clear once again that President Obama is trying to pretend we are not at war. He seems to think if he has a low-key response to an attempt to blow up an airliner and kill hundreds of people, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if he gives terrorists the rights of Americans, lets them lawyer up and reads them their Miranda rights, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if we bring the mastermind of Sept. 11 to New York, give him a lawyer and trial in civilian court, we won’t be at war.
'He seems to think if he closes Guantanamo and releases the hard-core Al Qaeda-trained terrorists still there, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if he gets rid of the words, "war on terror," we won’t be at war. But we are at war and when President Obama pretends we aren’t, it makes us less safe. Why doesn’t he want to admit we’re at war? It doesn’t fit with the view of the world he brought with him to the Oval Office. It doesn’t fit with what seems to be the goal of his presidency — social transformation — the restructuring of American society. President Obama’s first object and his highest responsibility must be to defend us against an enemy that knows we are at war."

Miss you yet, Dick? Not a chance; you won't allow it. But I wish you'd give us the opportunity.
LOL I swear, I looked at that photo and would have sworn it was Dick Cheney, not Georgie Porgie. (Maybe I was thinking about the headline and story, instead of the photo?)
In any event... talk about a Freudian slip!
WOW! FINALLY the White House is calling Cheney out for being the lowlife that he is:
"To put it simply: this President is not interested in bellicose rhetoric, he is focused on action. Seven years of bellicose rhetoric failed to reduce the threat from al Qaeda and succeeded in dividing this country. And it seems strangely off-key now, at a time when our country is under attack, for the architect of those policies to be attacking the President.
Second, the former Vice President makes the clearly untrue claim that the President – who is this nation’s Commander-in-Chief – needs to realize we are at War. I don’t think anyone realizes this very hard reality more than President Obama....
There are numerous other such public statements that explicitly state we are at war. The difference is this: President Obama doesn’t need to beat his chest to prove it, and – unlike the last Administration – we are not at war with a tactic (“terrorism”), we at war with something that is tangible: al Qaeda and its violent extremist allies. And we will prosecute that war as long as the American people are endangered."

GREAT COMMENTARY, Mr. Pfeiffer!
why aren't you posting my comments?
Stop the name-calling, and I'll post them. If I don't post Diogenes' comments because of name-calling, I need to be consistent, even though I agree with your comments.
WOW! FINALLY Cheney is calling out the White House... WOW! FINALLY Cheney is calling out the White House for what they really are!
Diogenes states: "I don’t think anyone realizes this very hard reality more than President Obama...."
If the C&C knows were at war, he needs to act like it and stop taking a vacation every month, stop the around the world apologizing tours and start implementing safeguards and communications between agencies to better protect the American people and to recognize that America has a true enemy and a threat called "terrorist” that wants to kill Americans and not some non-bellicose rhetoric like "overseas contingency operation", that label title could mean anything and it doesn't have a direct message!
I don't know why Debra has allowed diogenes to post all his/her ignorant and obsessive whining and leftwing blather, only Debra knows that.
(There’s no personnel name calling in this post Debra)
Actually, there was name-calling. "Lowlifes" isn't exactly complimentary. I deleted that part of your post, this time. But, let's clean up the comments. Didn't your mothers train you not to name-call?
Debra: “lowlife” was a quote from diogenes, if you look at the post right above mine, you will see what I'm talking about, as for my mother, she has long been dead and she taught all us boys be respectful and courteous to others.
But, There’s no being respectful or courteous to radical leftwing ideologs.
When I see these radical leftwing socialist kids trying to destroy the very Liberties and Freedoms that my two uncles fought and died for in WWII to protect, it burns me up!
While you try to be respectful to these leftwingloons, they don't care about respect; most of them don't even respect themselves.
I've watched you try to reach out to the lefties, and what did you get for your trouble? Nothing but ridicules, condemnation and abuse.
These people are pure hate; you have to fight them on their level or just lie down and submit.
Real Americans will never that!
You misunderstand me. I am not trying to reach out to lefties. I recognize the futulity in that.
Instead, I'm trying to hold a higher standard because I feel God wants me to do so. It's all about trying to please Him.
I am not particularly worried about hurting Diogenes feelings. In fact, I personally agree with much of the name-calling. Hope you understand.
Laughable! "Taking a vacation every month"???? You can say that with a stright face, after the prior President's inordinately busy vacation schedule?
BTW, I didn't make the extended comment about Obama calling out Cheney. That was the White HOuse spokesman's statament. See the little squiggly " quotation marks? That means somebody else said those words.
Your uncles (apparently) fought for freedom in WWII, and I respect that; my uncles also fought and were wounded in WWII. But they didn't just fight for the right of conservatives to express their viewpoints, and allow everyone else to be labelled as unAmerican, socialist, etc.
Cheney was totally disingenuous and hypocrtical in this particular episode, at least, because he criticized the Obama administration for doing EXACTLY what the Bush administration did.
