The Change from January to December

What a difference a year makes! Last December, Obama was hailed as the coming savior. I remember Christmas shopping last year and seeing his mug on all kinds of merchandise; it was enough to make a conservative gag.

Now, after eleven months of all that "hope and change", the president's favorable ratings are in the toilet. Here's to you, Mr. President, via the Patriot Room:

Obama's 2009 polls end badly

"There's not much massaging of data available to make these numbers look good:

Presidential Approval Index

12/31/2009   -18
01/21/2009   +28
Movement    -46

Strongly Approve

12/31/2009   24%
01/21/2009   44%
Movement   -20%

Strongly Disapprove

12/31/2009   42%
01/21/2009   16%
Movement     26%

Total Approve

12/31/2009   46%
01/21/2009   65%
Movement   -19%

Total Disapprove

12/31/2009   53%
01/21/2009   30%
Movement    23%

The overall numbers went from +25% to -7%. That's an epic fail by any measure. And this measure is 'likely voters.' And this is an election year."

Ahhhhhhh, NOW I understand why rightwingnuts always seem to cite the Rasmussen polls:

"Nothing, however, sets off liberal teeth gnashing more than Rasmussen’s daily presidential tracking polls, which throughout the year have consistently placed Obama’s approval numbers around 5 percentage points lower than other polling outfits.

" “He [Rasmussen] polls less favorably for Democrats, and that’s why he’s become a lightning rod,” said Charles Franklin, a University of Wisconsin political scientist who studies polling. “It’s clear that his results are typically more Republican than the other person’s results.”

On Saturday, Dec. 26, for example, Rasmussen’s daily tracking had Obama’s approval at 44 percent, with a disapproval figure of 56 percent. A Real Clear Politics compilation of other pollsters, meanwhile, showed Obama with an average approval figure of 49.5 percent and disapproval of 45.1 percent.

“He’s been underpolling Obama all year,” said Boehlert. “People start thinking, ‘There’s something going on here.’” "

So while Rasmussen is touting a -12 rating for Obama, all COMBINED show Obama wil a +4.4 rating!

It's called "cherry-picking", rightwingnuts!

You keep telling yourself that, Diogenes, but we know better.

"Scott Rasmussen, the most accurate pollster of the 2008 season."
