The Double Standard When It Comes to Religion in America

Wow! Has John Griffing at the American Thinker nailed the Left in their hypocrisy when it comes to religion. The same liberals who despise Christianity and want it removed in its entirety from public places are also the ones who are rooting for all things Islamic in our society.

Liberals despise us Christians for not supporting homosexuality and abortion. Our opposition is based on Biblical teachings. We have no hatred toward gays. BTW, the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas is the fartherest thing from Christianity.

Newsflash: God loves homosexuals every bit as much as he loves heterosexuals, though he does not approve of their gay lifestyle. But, guess what? He is not particularly happy with us heterosexuals when we are immoral either.

Yet, thanks be to God, He is a merciful God who forgives us ALL our sin. All we need do is ask, and He removes them as far as the east is from the west. He forgets them, as well. And in taking that step of repentance, He creates in us a peace that passes all understanding, knowing that He will NEVER leave us, nor forsake us. We can't even trust our closest family members or friends to always keep that promise.

I know it sounds incredibly weird; I once thought so myself, until I experienced it personally. God creates in each of us an emptiness which only He can fill. I have no idea how I survived as long as I did without His presence in my life. But, I wouldn't trade it for all the riches in the world.

Now, back to the topic of discussion. Last time I looked around Christians were not guilty of stoning homosexuals as is practiced in some Islamic nations. How exactly they can overlook such a brutal practice as stoning one to death for homosexuality is beyond me.

Islamocracy
By John Griffing

"The Left, champions of strict separation of church and state, have come out in support of an American theocracy. How can this be? Could this possibly be the same political machine that ritualistically goes from town to town scanning courthouses for explicit references to God, or even worse, the Ten Commandments? Or the establishment telling little Susie she cannot pray at school? Or the organization forbidding the reading of scripture, even on a purely non-sectarian, academic basis? Surely we can't be talking about the same ideologues.

But there is no mistake. The Left supports theocracy, as long as it is Islamic. The evidence sits all around us: Public school officials train students to ward off fanciful Christian (never Islamic) hostage-takers, but rush to allow Muslim students 15 minutes of class time to pray to Allah.

President Obama publicly advocates the Islamic practice of covering women to alleviate lust, without so much as a whimper from those staunch defenders of women's rights in the Democratically-controlled Congress.

Mosques are an increasingly common feature of the American landscape. These havens of peace, or should I say recruitment centers, have contributed to some pretty striking changes in American cities. Somehow, wherever large Muslim minorities reside, mosques obtain the right to play the extremely militant Call to Prayer over loudspeakers for all the non-Muslims to hear, usually five times a day. President Obama remembers the call to prayer fondly. And what is the call to prayer? The text reads:

'Allah is Supreme!
Allah is Supreme!
Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that Muhammad is his prophet ...'

Ah, what memories. This militant prose is blasted in cities all over the United States, most notably in Dearborn, Mich. And yet church bells are outlawed in many cities, citing offensive noise and sound pollution.

Inexplicably, many on the Left don't appreciate the irony of aiding the ascendance of a religion so at odds with many of the Left's most cherished 'rights.' The perceptive among them might have noticed, for instance, that Islamic law mandates the brutal slaughter of outed homosexuals, usually by way of stoning or, in rare cases, pushing a large brick wall onto the transgressor. Execution for homosexuality is the law of the land in Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan. If homosexuals decide to be 'out-and-proud' in the suburbs of Europe, they'll receive a swift beating from gangs of Moroccan 'youths.' But in America, Christians are arrested for praying silently at a gay rally.

The Left rewards the perpetrators of honor killings, a Muslim sacrament that calls for the purification of fellow family members through murder, sometimes for evils like talking on cell phones or socializing with westerners. Such barbaric practice is no better illustrated than in the example of Heshu Yones, a native Londoner. Heshu fell in love with a Lebanese Christian boy and they planned to elope. When Heshu's father caught wind of this, he stabbed her eleven times, and then slit her throat.[1]

In one recent case, leftist litigants nearly succeeded in sending poor Rifqa Bary back to her sanguine parents where she would surely have met her death.

The Left will fight for the Muslim right to slaughter relatives, but peaceful abortion protesters are jailed without even the slightest pretense to upholding the First Amendment.

The sheer brutality of Islamic law is evident to any with common sense. But even though it is inconsistent with American principles of individuality and freedom, many leftists in the U.S. publicly argue for the adoption of the Islamic law called Sharia. Amputation for theft certainly would certainly solve many problems in America's crime-ridden streets. The Chief Justice of London's Sharia Court agrees:

'If Sharia is implemented then you can turn this country into a haven of peace...Once a thief's hand is cut off, nobody is going to steal. Once an adulterer is stoned, nobody is going to commit this crime at all. This is why we say we want to offer it to British society.'

The Left's dichotomy extends to public schools as well. The state-funded University of Michigan has begun constructing footbath stations for Muslims. Where Muslims are concerned, no one seems deterred by landmark Supreme Court cases like Everson v. Board of Education or Engel v. Vitale. The 'high and impregnable' wall between church and state has just plunged foot deep into the water. But what would be the response if Christians built baptismals at UC Berkley?

The Bible is banned by Idaho for use in public school classrooms, but the same authority permits 'a passionate defense of Islam by a Muslim faithful.'

And now with the latest call for a probe into the radical terror-funding Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR), Democrats again have a chance to show their patriotism by condemning Islamic supremacists. CAIR leaders have lobbied for a global caliphate and the complete overthrow of the American government.

CAIR's Chairman Omar M. Ahmad has even said, 'Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran...should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth.' The appropriate response to such sentiments is simple: NO. Instead, Democrats have resorted to tiresome clichés about ethnic enmity and intolerance. When given the choice between America and an Islamic theocracy, Democrats appear to desire the latter.

The Left is not the decrier of theocracy and the champion of strict separation of church and state that it claims to be. Democrats seem perfectly willing to accede to an Islamic brand of theocracy if it strengthens the Left's hold on America. Alarmingly, the Democrats also seem to think they can keep Islamic extremism under their control, using only so much of it as is necessary to further their own agenda. This naiveté portends disastrous consequences for freedom in America. We must act now before the religion that gave us the 9/11 hijackers makes the Whitehouse Muslim. Or has it already?"

I think Nancy Pelosi would look stunning in a burkha, don't you?

Do you even read the crap you post?

"But in America, Christians are arrested for praying silently at a gay rally."

That shouldn't be... so I went to the link and read it. Turns out the Religious Rightwingnuts wern't "praying silently" at all; they were harrassing the participants at a gay rights rally who obtained a permit for apublic park. So the Religious Rightwingnuts decided they'd make a scene and get themselves arrested, and then claim that a;; they were doing is praying!

As for God not approving of a gay lifestyle, I don't recall Jesus saying even one word about homosexuality. A man of suspect sexual proclivities like Paul certainly did, and there's a ton of stuff in the Old Testament, if you want to wade right past the parts that declare that shellfish are an abomination, too.

As for stoning homosexuals being a brutal practice, I agree, But before you metaphorically cast the first stone at Muslims in that case, I have two words for you: Matthew Shepard.

And, sorry, you don't get to disclaim the Westboro Baptists Church that quickly. Yeah, they're nutjobs, but they're not that much nuttier than you. They just have louder voices.

"A man of suspect sexual proclivities like Paul"

You are one sick individual, Diogenes, to insinuate that the Apostle Paul may have been a homosexual.

Time to get out your Bible. Since you choose not to believe anything from the Old Testament, let's go to the New Testament.

"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." (1Corinthians 6:9-10)

"Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion." (Rom. 1: 26-27)

"In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire." (Jude 7)

Try spinning your way out of the above evidence of how God views homosexuality. But, don't accuse me of hating gays because I do not, nor do I hate Muslims. It's their false religion I despise because it's leading people to hell.

And, surprise, surprise, I do not even hate Obama. I recognize that he is an enemy of this country and all things Christian and is destroying our nation, but there's no hatred there. Sorry to disappoint you.

As to the Matthew Shepard case, the murder may have had more to do with drugs than sexual orientation. Of course, the gay community, with the help of the media, jumped on this opportunity to use to their advantage.

Regarding the verses I quoted, no, the comments were not made by Jesus Himself, but the words Paul wrote were inspired by God. So, it's basically the same as Jesus stating them Himself.

Sorry, but I don't buy the idea that Paul was speaking for Jesus 100% of the time. I've studied enough of the history of how the New Testament came to be formed so that I don't believe for a second that it floated down from God as a finished work. It was written by men (many men) and was largely divinely inspired, but not as if every word came straight from God's mouth to our ear. You're entitled to believe otherwise, which wouldn't surprise me at all, but the facts don't back up your literalist dogmatic interpretation.

I have this notion that, if Jesus truly found it all that reprehensible, he'd have found an occasion to say it himself, in no uncertain terms. But my memory is that Jesus far more often talked about loving your neighbor, and He often stuck up for those that the rest of society shunned. I have this funny feeling that Jesus, were He with us, would be speaking out in defense of homosexuals, especially against the persecution they face from Sadducees like you and the other Religious Rightwingnuts.

And I didn't intend to imply that Paul was homosexual himself.... just very very sexually peculiar. Rather than being heterosexual or homosexual, Paul was more likely asexual. On occasion, he recommended that men and women shouldn't even get married -- or get married only because they absolutely had to -- because Jesus was right around the corner, so no need to go messin' with your head by thinking about sex... opposite or same.

Debra Moore said...

Paul didn't have time for romance. He was on a mission to preach the Gospel.

Jesus would defend homosexuals from being treated badly, but He would never excuse their sin. Just as He did with the "woman at the well". He was quick to forgive her. But, He also said, "Go and sin no more."

He is a merciful God and eager to forgive our sin, if we'll just ask Him. Yet, He is a holy God as well and never compromises in His standards.

You have a tendency to pick and choose which parts of the Bible you wish to believe based on what you desire to hear. It doesn't work that way. God is God; He gets to make the calls--not you or I.

I've never ONCE seen you admit that you are wrong. Swallow your pride and get over yourself.

Diogenes said...

Where did Jesus say homosexuality is a sin? I know YOU have, and a whole cartload of Religious Rightwingnuts have, but Jesus? I don't think so.

Sadducee... a perfect title for you. Almost better than American Taliban.

Debra Moore said...

We've been through this, Diogenes. Jesus did not mention homosexuality in the Bible. But, condemnation of it appears throughout the OT and NT. You have every right to choose to not believe what you read, but that doesn't make it any less true.

You are mistaken, Diogenes. I have no bad feelings toward gays. But, at the same time, I don't condone their lifestyle and am tired of it being shoved down my throat. I hardly think that makes me a Sadducee. A Sadducee would have no mercy whatsoever.

I can tell that you've read Rules for Radicals because every time you run out of arguments in your defense, you start in on attacking me and your continuous juvenile name calling.

As I've said before, Jesus loves gays and would be furious with anyone who mistreated them. The story of the woman caught in adultery is the perfect scenario in imagining how He would handle such a scene with a gay being mistreated. But, at the same time, that doesn't mean He would condone their behavior, just as He didn't condone adultery. Try to find a Sadducee who would state what I've just said.

You are a little obsessed with this issue. You mentioned that you have a wife, so you must not be gay. I'm guessing you have a gay child which makes you so defensive on this issue.

I admit that I have been too legalistic in the past, and I am working on expressing God's love and mercy more than his holy standards. That's why I have been sharing about what a loving God He is.

"IMAGINING".

Congrats on a perfect choice of words. You nailed that one.

As for your attempted psychoanalysis, not so good. Got a wife and stepchildren, but no gays in the mix. I've surely had a number of gay students, both known and unknown. I've seen how they're mistreated in this society and our hometown in paricular. Which, coincidentally, happens to be the ex-hometown of the ex-heterosexual Ted Haggard, the ex-head of the Religious Rightwingnut community, right alongside Jimmy Dobson, who's also a resident of our fair city, as head of Focus On The Family, another highly hypocritical and venomous homophobic organization. Familiarity, in this case, most definitely breeds contempt.

Debra Moore said...

I agree with you on Haggard, but Dobson is a wonderful man of God. He doesn't hate gays, just doesn't condone their lifestyle--big difference. He follows the Word of God.

That's funny, you living in Colorado Springs. I'll bet you fit in well. How's that indoctrinating of Air Force children going?

BTW, if you truly care so much about gays, the best thing you could do is to encourage them to get some counseling because they will ultimately find no peace in their current lifestyle. That's truly the sad part.
